On July 19, Mexico City experienced extraordinarily heavy rains, leading to a crisis situation for its residents. In response, Clara Brugada<\/b>, the Chief of Government of Mexico City<\/b>, held a press conference to announce a multifaceted support plan for those affected by the downpour and resulting floods.<\/p>\n

The rainfall recorded over the course of the day was staggering, with total accumulated precipitation exceeding 23 million cubic meters<\/b>. Notably, the San Francisco Stroke area in Magdalena Contreras<\/b> registered the highest level of precipitation at 60.75 millimeters<\/b> in less than an hour.<\/p>\n

Alongside property damage assessments, support will also extend to vehicles affected by the floods, necessitating a comprehensive citywide census.<\/p>\n

In his comments, Fernando Mercado Guaida<\/b>, the mayor of Magdalena Contreras<\/b>, extended gratitude for inter-institutional cooperation in managing the fallout from the intense rains and hail. He reiterated that since the storm began, approximately 1,200 officials across multiple departments have been mobilized to assist affected residents.<\/p>\n

“We have embarked on coordinated efforts from the very start, integrating various units to support our community,”<\/b><\/i> he emphasized during the conference.<\/p>\n

The mayor also noted that many residences suffered from hail damage, particularly those with vulnerable roofing structures. Areas like San Nicol\u00e1s<\/b> and San Francisco<\/b> faced considerable impacts, and Civil Defense<\/b> teams have already undertaken urgent response measures.<\/p>\n

To facilitate relief efforts, a shelter was also established at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday for residents who lost all their belongings to the floods, providing a crucial support system in a time of need.<\/p>\n
