Controversy Surrounds Criminal Leaders’ Appearance at Alpujarra Stage in Medell\u00edn<\/h2>\n

On June 21, 2025<\/strong>, the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, made a highly publicized appearance at the Alpujarra stage in Medell\u00edn, accompanied by several notorious criminals from the city. This unprecedented event sparked significant controversy across various political and social sectors, raising questions about the implications of such a decision.<\/p>\n

To contextualize, the National Penitentiary and Prison Institute<\/strong> (INPEC) disclosed that the prisoners had received formal permission to attend the event. Moreover, Petro designated these individuals as official spokesmen for dialogue between the organized crime entities and the national government. This revelation has heightened tensions in a society still grappling with serious crime issues.<\/p>\n


\n\u201cThis is why, the Presidency of the Republic, through Resolutions 139 of May 29, 2023, and 094 of April 8, 2025, has designated the persons deprived of liberty (PLP) mentioned above as spokesmen of the organized armed structures of High Impact Crime in Medell\u00edn and the Aburr\u00e1 valley in the socio-legal conversations with the national government,\u201d<\/b> stated a document revealed by Blu Radio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Senator of the Historical Pact played a key role in the exit and transfer of the convicts from the Itag\u00fc\u00ed prison to the Plaza de la Alpujarra de Medell\u00edn – Credit – Presidency<\/figcaption><\/div>\n

In addition, the document highlighted that Isabel Zuleta<\/strong>, a senator from the Historical Pact political party, was officially authorized to facilitate these discussions. It also confirmed that the exit of the inmates did not require a judge’s authorization<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe National Government, through Resolution No. 452 of 2024, appointed Dr. Isabel Cristina Zuleta L\u00f3pez as coordinator of the National Government, with the power to perform all necessary acts to establish socio-legal conversations,\u201d<\/b> the report added.<\/p>\n

The report went on to elucidate the operational details of the inmates’ transfer to the event. This operation was initiated approximately 12 hours before the event and was corroborated by secured email communications from the Presidency.<\/p>\n

At 12:35 a.m.<\/strong>, they were escorted from the La Paz Penitentiary Center<\/strong> in Itag\u00fc\u00ed by the National Police. During the event, they remained in an isolated tent, closely monitored, with no contact with external attendees.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey remained in this place until 5:40 p.m., when their access to the platform was authorized. Once the event was concluded at 9:15 p.m., they were returned to containment establishment at 10:10 p.m.<\/strong>,\u201d<\/b> relayed the INPEC report.<\/p>\n

The notoriety of the nine inmates involved has also drawn attention, as they each have extensive criminal backgrounds. The criminal leaders spanned various organizations and were individually significant within the Medell\u00edn criminal landscape.<\/p>\n
