Changes in the Electoral Process for 2026<\/h2>\n

The upcoming 2026 electoral process<\/strong> will see a significant transformation in how election tables are managed. This time, approximately 842,000 citizens<\/strong> will be randomly selected to serve as table members, which includes both holders and alternates. This decision aims to expedite the installation of tables and enhance electoral logistics<\/strong> throughout the country.<\/p>\n

The drawing of table members is set to take place on January 29, 2026<\/strong>, as confirmed by Piero Corvetto, head of the National Electoral Process Office (ONPE)<\/strong>, during a presentation to the Constitution Commission of the Congress. Unlike past elections, where the designation typically involved six citizens per table, this time nine individuals will be assigned to each table.<\/p>\n

The draw will consist of selecting the president, secretary, third member, along with their respective alternates. A comprehensive list of those selected will be published on February 11, 2026<\/strong>, coinciding with the announcement of party placements on the voting card.<\/p>\n

Mandatory Duties and Incentives for Table Members<\/h2>\n

Becoming a table member is not optional; it\u2019s a mandatory duty and can only be declined for valid reasons. The ONPE<\/strong> has established new benefits and incentives to those fulfilling this responsibility.<\/p>\n

Selected individuals will receive financial compensation of S\/ 160.50<\/strong> per electoral day, an increase from the previous S\/ 120<\/strong>. This compensation equates to around 3% of a Tax Unit (UIT)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In addition, individuals who participate in official training sessions will be granted a paid day off, applicable to both public and private sector employees. This benefit can be availed within 90 days<\/strong> following the election, contingent upon coordination with the employer. In cases where mutual agreement cannot be reached, the day will be determined by the respective company or institution.<\/p>\n

To ensure adequate readiness, the ONPE<\/strong> has scheduled training days, with the first occurring on March 29<\/strong> and the second on April 5<\/strong>. The simulation of the voting computer system will align with the general elections date on April 12<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
