In a recent chat with journalist \u00d3scar Javier Ostos from Gol Caracol, the Bogot\u00e1-born midfielder opened up for the first time about the circumstances surrounding his exit from the club.<\/p>\n

During the interview, P\u00e9rez explained the context of his departure, which unfolded while he was with \u00a0Deportes Tolima\u00a0. He emphasized that his \u00a0desire to return to Millonarios\u00a0 was always lingering, but an opportunity arose for him to return. “I left for Tolima to play in the Copa Libertadores because the owners of my rights told me, ‘Andr\u00e9s, we believe you will play in the Copa Libertadores,'” P\u00e9rez recounted. He described how the coach, Chiqui, wanted him on the team, yet he felt he didn’t belong there.<\/p>\n

“When I arrived in Tolima, I said: ‘I don\u2019t want to be here,'” <\/b>P\u00e9rez stated, recalling instances when he yearned to be back with Millonarios. He mentioned having conversations with the \u00a0club president\u00a0 at that time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went to a friendly match in Manizales. The plan was to return to Bogot\u00e1, collect my things, and then move to Ibagu\u00e9. I called the president of Millonarios to express my feelings. He reassured me, \u2018Don\u2019t worry, come back.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Eventually, he recounted his conversation with Millonarios’ president before he spoke with \u00a0Luis Augusto Garc\u00eda\u00a0, who had a significant role in preventing his return.
\n\u201cDuring the eliminations for the Germany 2006 World Cup in Uruguay, I encountered him at a game. He was serious, and I remarked, \u2018I knew you would convince me.\u2019 But that was many years later. By the time I returned, Chiqui Garc\u00eda was involved in club operations,\u201d P\u00e9rez explained.<\/p>\n

He also shared how his attempt to re-enter Millonarios was thwarted. \u201cHe called me and said, ‘Andr\u00e9s, I need to tell you something that will hurt you. You will not continue with the team. Good luck.'” This revelation caused him significant emotional distress, as he had hoped to return.<\/p>\n

Moreover, in the same conversation, P\u00e9rez expressed his unyielding passion for football since childhood. \u201cI\u2019ve played football for as long as I can remember. I went through youth leagues and played micro-football,\u201d he shared. He provides insight into how external validation influenced his pursuit of a professional football career, stating, \u201cWhen people compliment you, like they did back then, you start to realize you\u2019re on the right path.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

Reflecting on his arrival at \u00a0Millonarios\u00a0, he vividly recounted, \u201cI was playing with Real Cartagena for six months when I received a call from Millonarios. Chiqui said, \u2018Come here. I want you at Millonarios.\u2019 I never imagined I would secure a starting position so quickly, but I ended up earning it just before my debut, and I didn’t lose it.\u201d<\/p>\n
