From \u00a0June 19 to 22\u00a0, the \u00a0Jard\u00edn Hidalgo\u00a0 in Azcapotzalco will come alive with vibrant colors, offering a taste of this grand Oaxacan festival.<\/p>\n

The official \u00a0Guelaguetza 2025\u00a0 will take place as always in \u00a0Oaxaca\u00a0 on \u00a0July 21 and 28\u00a0, featuring the famed \u00a0Lunes de Cerro\u00a0 or \u201cMondays on the Hill.\u201d During these days, cities and municipalities across Oaxaca will buzz with craft fairs, communal festivals, gastronomic showcases, and various \u00a0cultural expressions\u00a0.<\/p>\n

More than just a festival, the \u00a0Guelaguetza\u00a0 is one of Mexico’s most vibrant living traditions. It dates back to \u00a0pre-Hispanic\u00a0 times, but over the years, after the \u00a0Spanish conquest\u00a0, it blended with Catholic celebrations, leading to the honoring of the \u00a0Virgin of Carmen\u00a0. This fusion contributed to the creation of the famed \u00a0Lunes del Cerro\u00a0, which remain fundamental to the Guelaguetza even today.<\/p>\n

In \u00a01932\u00a0, these celebrations were formalized with the event known as \u00a0Homenaje Racial\u00a0, bringing together communities from across Oaxaca to share their cultures through music, traditional garments, and regional products.
