There have been large protests in Iran after 22-year-old Masha Amini died in the custody of the morality police last Friday. The reason she was stopped must have been that she was wearing the wrong hijab. On Saturday, several hundred people gathered at Torgallmenningen in Bergen to demonstrate for women’s rights in Iran. – It is very strange that I mark it because of my cousin. Not just above my cousin, but the entire people of Iran, says Diako Aili, Sonya’s brother. Clearly distressed Cousin Diako Aili was clearly distressed when he was to speak to those present at the demonstration in Bergen. – When I went up to the microphone and saw a picture of my cousin, I just started thinking about how much I take for granted, and how sad it is that such a young life should be killed for so little that a person does not himself will get to choose what it will go with, he says. The two siblings hope that the increased focus also outside Iran can help to change the situation there. – We have to share it as much as possible, so that more people are informed, says Sonya. They are really risking their lives there. It’s incredibly nice to see that everyone stands up and stands together about it, it’s very important, says Sonya. Diako says he sees that the demonstrations in Iran are different than before. – Now ladies stand at the front with men behind them as support. There are many more in the streets. I really hope this is the revolution and means that we get a free Iran, he says. – The women’s revolution has started. If women stand together, no force, no threat, no weapon or no religion can stop them, said the municipal council representative on Ask\u00f8y, Masoomeh Atashfaraz, to those present.
