He was famously known as the former partner of Carole Bouquet, with whom he shares a son, Louis Giacobetti, born in 1987. Through his marriage to Jeanne, he was also a father to three daughters: Olivia, Sandrine, and Florence.

In recent years, Giacobetti’s family had expanded. In 2018, he and Carole Bouquet celebrated the joy of becoming grandparents for the first time with the birth of Gaia, the daughter of Louis Giacobetti and Charlotte Tarbouriech. Two years later, the family welcomed Paloma, adding further joy to their gathering. To date, Bouquet has not publicly commented on the passing of her former partner.

Carole Bouquet: Who Was Francis Giacobetti?

In stark contrast to Carole Bouquet, who often shares glimpses of her life on social media, Francis Giacobetti was known for his remarkable sense of discretion . He rose to fame for his role as the artistic director of the magazine Lui and his collaborations with Playboy, establishing a solid reputation in the world of photography . As he resumed his work with Paris Match, Giacobetti gradually shifted away from erotic photography to focus on portraiture, capturing the essence of significant figures in various fields. His illustrious portfolio included prominent personalities such as Fidel Castro and Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

From 1984 onward, Giacobetti dedicated himself entirely to the art of portraiture, striving to encapsulate a lifetime in a single photograph. His ambitious project comprised over 200 portraits featuring legends like Federico Fellini, Stephen Hawking, and Françoise Sagan. In the later stages of his career, he primarily worked with Marie Claire, Paris Match, and the iconic Pirelli calendars. Furthermore, his erotic film, Emmanuelle l’antivierge, featuring Sylvia Kristel, was a remarkable success, drawing over two million admissions to theaters.

Carole Bouquet’s Unique Approach to Parenting

During a recent appearance on the show En Aparté on Canal +, Carole Bouquet opened up about her somewhat unconventional approach to raising her two sons, Dimitri Rassam (42 years old) and Louis Giacobetti (37 years old). “I raised them surrounded by a large crowd,” she revealed. “My house was always open,” offering a glimpse into her bustling family life. She described the vibrancy of her home, noting, “We had a refrigerator where you could drop by with forty people, and indeed, a lot of people showed up every day.”

In the same vein, she reminisced about the well-known “themed parties” she held at home. She enthusiastically joined in the festivities, dressing up in themes that aligned with her children. With hindsight, the star of Trop belle pour toi reflected that she believed she provided her children with “a completely normal and traditional education.” Yet in looking back at those snapshots from childhood, she chuckled, admitting, “When I look at photos of them as kids, and I see them all dressed up, I think, ‘What on earth…'”

Carole Bouquet’s Own Childhood Insights

Carole Bouquet grew up in a familial atmosphere shaped by the absence of her mother, a theme she touched upon during an interview with *Le Monde* three years ago. She spoke fondly of the loving gaze of her father, which played an instrumental role in her upbringing: “I wouldn’t have become who I am if my father hadn’t looked at me with love and confidence from a young age. He always believed in me. That gaze shaped my life.” Her mother departed when the actress was only three years old. While she cherishes memories of the fragrance of mimosa during vacations, she also noted an unfulfilled promise of happiness: “It was a promise of happiness that was never kept.”

Beautiful yet emotionally distant, her mother struggled to provide the affection she craved. Bouquet candidly stated, “She was incredibly beautiful. But she was anything but a mother, as she never understood how to love us.” Despite several efforts, reconnecting with her mother proved difficult: “As I grew older, I tried to rekindle a relationship, but there was too much anger from her side, along with jealousy that I could no longer tolerate.” Living with her father, a devoted engineer, did not lighten her path either. Describing him as an individual who was reserved yet dedicated, she shared that their life was plain and lacked social engagement.

The acclaimed actress reflected, saying, “My father was very solitary, not much of a talker… The rest of the year, he worked tirelessly, and no one ever crossed the threshold of our home.” Initially raised in Neuilly before moving to Versailles—an experience she detested—Bouquet grew up in a structured environment alongside her elder sister: “With my sister, who was five years older, we lived like in a glass jar.” To escape this solitude, she decided to join her sister in boarding school. “When he decided to send her to a convent, I wanted to go too,” she closed her narrative simply, “I didn’t want to be alone. And I wanted to flee this life.” It’s evident that Francis Giacobetti carved a significant narrative within both his family’s and the larger artistic community.

General News – 2

Remembering Francis Giacobetti: An Artistic Legacy This past Sunday, June 8, 2025, the renowned French photographer and filmmaker Francis Giacobetti passed away at the age of 85 at the Franco-British hospital in Levallois, following respiratory failure.
