Ferrari is on the verge of transforming its \u00a0GT lineup\u00a0 with an upcoming model that may signal an unexpected return to a \u00a0technical solution\u00a0 once deemed obsolete: the \u00a0retractable hardtop\u00a0. Despite the launch of the Ferrari \u00a0Roma Spider\u00a0 with its cloth roof in 2023, it appears that the Maranello brand is already preparing a successor that features a hardtop.<\/p>\n

Amalfi, An Evolution… or a Revolution?<\/h2>\n

The name isn’t official yet, but everything indicates that the next Ferrari will be called \u00a0Amalfi\u00a0. Ferrari has filed for trademarks on “Amalfi” and “Amalfi Spider,” strengthening the idea that two versions will be available as early as this summer. The presentation is expected during a private event in Amalfi, Italy, from July 1 to 3, 2025, serving as a way to continue the legacy of the Roma, itself designed as a homage to \u00a0la dolce vita\u00a0 of Italy.<\/p>\n

What makes this reveal particularly intriguing is that the \u00a0Ferrari Amalfi Spider\u00a0 may replace the cloth roof with a retractable hardtop, similar to what was seen in the \u00a0Ferrari California\u00a0 (2008) and \u00a0Portofino\u00a0 (2017). This solution offers increased \u00a0comfort\u00a0 and \u00a0sound insulation\u00a0, while enhancing the elegance of the coupe-convertible design.<\/p>\n

Roma Spider Out, Portofino Resurrected?<\/h2>\n

Launched in 2023, the Ferrari \u00a0Roma Spider\u00a0 had a brief run. The upcoming Amalfi, with the code name \u00a0F169M\u00a0, is poised to be a direct evolution of the Roma (F169). However, it might seize the opportunity to merge the heritages of two models: the \u00a0Roma Spider\u00a0 for its modern, streamlined aesthetics, and the \u00a0Portofino\u00a0 for its hardtop concept.<\/p>\n
