\n Three \u00a0cave explorers\u00a0 found themselves trapped in a cave in the Is\u00e8re region at Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse on Sunday. A 25-year-old man, injured and in a state of \u00a0hypothermia\u00a0, was rescued on Monday morning.\n<\/p>\n

Amazingly, a seriously injured yet safe \u00a0caver\u00a0, blocked since Sunday in a cave in the Is\u00e8re region at Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse, was able to emerge into the light around 7:30 AM on Monday. He had been trapped by fallen rocks due to a \u00a0landslide\u00a0, with one arm stuck and suffering from \u00a0hypothermia\u00a0. Upon his rescue, he was quickly evacuated to the hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

The \u00a0caver\u00a0 and two others were trapped in the \u00a0Guiers-Mort\u00a0 cave, which is located about 1.5 hours from the entrance. By Sunday evening at around 7:30 PM, two doctors and a nurse had reached the victim to provide initial \u00a0first aid\u00a0.<\/p>\n

An Alert from a Fellow Caver<\/h2>\n

The \u00a0Orsec plan\u00a0 (Organization for Civil Security Response) was activated on Sunday afternoon. The Is\u00e8re prefecture indicated that the rescue operation could last “a good part of the night” due to the “configuration of the area.” The alert was triggered by a member of the group who was located at the entrance of the cave.<\/p>\n

79 Rescuers Mobilized<\/h2>\n

The group of \u00a0cave explorers\u00a0 had come to explore the Di\u00e9mort cavity, an underground network located beneath the \u00a0Dent de Crolles\u00a0, a peak standing at 2,062 meters in height in the Chartreuse massif, north of Grenoble.<\/p>\n

The rescue operation involved a significant mobilization of resources, including 79 individuals: 50 firefighters, 7 members of the CRS Alpes, 5 gendarmes, 15 members of the Is\u00e8re Speleological Rescue Association, and two doctors.
