The man is wanted internationally.  We are talking about a Norwegian citizen in his 40s who is known to the police from the past.  news receives confirmation from unnamed sources that the man is Arfan Bhatti (45).  He is a Norwegian citizen with a Pakistani background, and has been considered central to the extreme Islamist milieu in Norway. Bhatti has a long criminal past, and has been convicted of, among other things, threats, extortion and violence.  From before, Zaniar Matapour has been charged with having committed murder and attempted murder with terrorist intent.  One of the theories the police are working on is that the shooting was a hate crime aimed at gay people.  Two people were killed and 21 were physically injured.  Religious texts on Facebook On 14 June this year, Arfan Bhatti posted a picture of a burning rainbow flag and a quote calling for the murder of homosexuals.  news has previously mentioned that Matapour had contact with Bhatti.  This summer it became known that the Oslo police and PST considered whether they should seek Bhatti internationally.  He has been in Pakistan since May. The following autumn he was arrested and imprisoned in Pakistan.  He was reportedly released at the end of August 2014, and voluntarily returned to Norway in January 2015. Bhatti has paid tribute to Osama bin Laden and supports sharia law. In 2008, Bhatti was convicted of complicity in the shootings at the synagogue, but the court characterized this as serious damage and not as an act of terrorism. Photo: Knut Falch \/ NTB He was found guilty of complicity in the attempted murder of a financier in B\u00e6rum, after an unknown perpetrator fired several shots at the man&#8217;s home.  He was sentenced to eight years in custody with a minimum term of four years.  Arfan Bhatti&#8217;s criminal past: When he was 16, in 1994, he was sentenced to seven months in prison for hitting a shopkeeper on the head with a bottle and stabbing the man in the stomach.  1997: Bhatti was sentenced to 90 days in prison for, among other things, threats and illegal use of firearms.  1998: Bhatti was sentenced to one year and six months in prison, as well as three years of probation, for shooting a man in the arm during a torpedo operation.  1999: He was convicted in the High Court of torpedoing, after he shot a man in the arm and held a weapon to his temple.  The Court of Appeal believed that the act was close to intentional attempted murder.  2001: Bhatti was absent from leave from Ila prison, and was arrested at the Baronen og Baronesse nightclub with a loaded gun.  2003: The Supreme Court acquits the prosecutor&#8217;s demand for detention for Bhatti, following the arrest of the Baron and the Baroness two years earlier.  2011: Bhatti is reported for threats by TV 2 after he threatened a TV 2 photographer on his way out of a trial.  2015: He was sentenced to ten months in prison for domestic violence.  Four months have been made conditional.  2016: Sentenced to 14 days in prison in Oslo District Court for throwing or pushing his wife against the edge of the bed so that she suffered severe pain in her ribs.
