\n Severe storms have wreaked havoc in Bavaria and Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg. In Memmingen, a Ryanair aircraft had to make an unscheduled landing after severe turbulence injured eight passengers on board.<\/strong>\n <\/p>\n

\n Storm “Tim” caused significant disturbances in Southern Germany. Heavy storms swept across large areas of Bavaria and Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg, leading to numerous emergency service interventions.\n <\/p>\n

\n At the Bavarian airport of Memmingen, a Ryanair flight with 185 passengers had to initiate a safety landing. According to police, eight passengers and one crew member were injured when the aircraft hit severe turbulence. Three of them required hospitalization: a two-year-old child suffered bruises, a woman had a head wound, and another passenger complained of back pain. Since the Southern Bavarian aviation authority did not authorize a continuation of the flight, the airline arranged buses for further travel, as reported by the police.\n <\/p>\n

\n In the northern parts of Upper Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate, there were approximately 50 fire service deployments due to the severe weather, while in Lower Bavaria, there were nearly 40. According to initial reports, there were no injuries. Most emergency crews were dispatched to flooded drains, toppled trees, or flooded basements.\n <\/p>\n

Nations-League-Spiel <\/span>delayed start<\/h2>\n

\n In Regensburg, the Campus Festival was canceled due to severe weather. In downtown Munich, hail fell. The football Nations League match between Germany and Portugal in Bavaria’s capital was delayed by ten minutes.\n <\/p>\n

\n Fire brigades reported numerous deployments from various regions of the state. Isolated trees fell, particularly in the Ingolstadt area. In Augsburg, roadways were flooded, partly due to blocked drains, as a fire department spokesperson stated. In the Aichach-Friedberg district, several trees were uprooted.\n <\/p>\n

\n Severe weather also swept over the southeastern region of Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg, bringing hail, thunderstorms, and wind. A brief, intense thunderstorm passed through Ulm, where the German Weather Service (DWD) initially investigated a suspected tornado in the Donaustetten district. “We are rather skeptical. We assume it was likely not a tornado,” stated a DWD meteorologist. Further assessments were expected throughout the day.\n <\/p>\n

\n The fire department considered it a “small wind vortex” that moved through two to three street blocks, damaging roofs. Ulm had already been hit by severe weather on Saturday: A lightning strike hit the Ulm Minster, the tallest church tower in the world.<\/a>\n <\/p>\n

Weather service issued highest warning level<\/h2>\n

\n The DWD declared the highest warning level for parts of Bavaria<\/a>. In Upper Bavaria and Eastern Bavaria, gusts of wind up to 110 kilometers per hour, as well as extremely heavy rain and hail with sizes up to five centimeters, were forecasted. There is a “risk to life and health,” including from lightning strikes, falling trees and branches, rapid flooding of roads and basements, landslides, aquaplaning, and hail, warned the DWD.\n <\/p>\n

Changeable weather during Pentecost<\/h2>\n

\n In northwestern Germany, the weather remained calm. A mix of sun and clouds prevailed at pleasant temperatures. However, the DWD also expects showers with brief thunderstorms and heavy rain. Small hail and stormy gusts are also possible. Stronger storms are anticipated in the afternoon, particularly from central to eastern Germany, accompanied by heavy rain. Isolated severe weather events may also occur.\n <\/p>\n

\n This weather pattern will continue over the Pentecost weekend, with disturbances bringing rain or showers at intervals, along with some brief thunderstorms.\n <\/p>\n

\n Temperatures will drop slightly, with only the East expected to exceed 20 degrees on Sunday. According to the DWD, a rather cool, changeable, and windy weekend is in store. Conditions will improve again on Pentecost Monday.\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
