But beware of falling into the trap…

This is not the first time, nor will it likely be the last, that scams have emerged to lure Netflix subscribers. This time, it’s an attack that claims to offer “90 days free” to users of the platform and has ensnared many victims in recent days.

So, how can we distinguish the real from the fake? And importantly, could Netflix genuinely give such a gift to its subscribers? Let’s explore this issue in detail.

<picture loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-1314561" style="width:637px">

</picture>

Accessing such a catalog of films and series requires effort…

An Offer from Netflix That’s Too Good to Be True

Currently, all means are being used to try to reduce subscription costs on streaming platforms. Many users subscribe to multiple services (Netflix, myCANAL, etc.), causing their monthly bills to skyrocket. We have recently seen similar price increases with YouTube TV.

Therefore, when an offer emerges to help save money, it can be tempting to get on board, especially as subscription prices continue to rise. However, don’t be fooled: it’s unlikely Netflix will significantly reduce its subscription prices in this manner, and even less likely it would offer three months for free without a solid reason…

Yet, this appears to be what some users thought when they received a supposed “thank you” email following the expiration of their accounts. It’s a scam that’s relatively easy to spot, as a closer look at the email shows that the email address is entirely fake.

<picture loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-1314558" style="width:637px">

</picture>

The scammers clearly didn’t put much effort into this one… (© Jeuxvideo.com)

How to Spot Such Scams and What Risks They Pose

Even though this phishing attempt is quite crude and lacking credibility, not all scams are so obvious to detect. It’s important to thoroughly read the message to check for any spelling errors, avoid clicking links sent via email or SMS, and, more generally, be cautious of offers that seem too enticing.

Furthermore, do not disclose sensitive information such as passwords or bank details if an email feels suspicious. Additionally, don’t hesitate to report it to platforms like PHAROS or Signal Spam to prevent the scam from spreading. It’s always better to be safe than sorry…

<picture loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-1314565" style="width:637px">

</picture>

Hackers are always on the prowl to play nasty tricks on you…

Ultimately, Netflix has also made significant headlines for various other reasons in recent weeks. This is particularly notable, as the American VOD service is reportedly considering AI-generated advertisements for future projects. Let’s hope these don’t become too intrusive.

General News – 2

In recent days, some Netflix subscribers have received offers for free subscriptions.
