A British study currently under review suggests that \u00a0with climate change, these potentially dangerous fungi may settle in new regions\u00a0 worldwide.<\/p>\n\n<h2>A Fungus That &#8220;Eats You From the Inside Out&#8221;<\/h2>\n<p>Three researchers, including Norman van Rhijn from the University of Manchester, UK, have explored the connection between climate change and infectious diseases. According to these researchers\u2019 peer-reviewed article, this figure could increase due to projected changes. The \u00a0rise in temperatures\u00a0 from climate change may \u00a0broaden the global distribution of three pathogenic fungi\u00a0.<\/p>\n\n<p>The three species are all part of the genus <em>Aspergillus<\/em>: \u00a0<em>Aspergillus flavus<\/em>, <em>Aspergillus fumigatus<\/em>, and <em>Aspergillus niger<\/em>\u00a0. Altogether, this could expose an additional \u00a010 million Europeans\u00a0 to potential infection risks!<\/p>\n\n<h2>&#8220;The Last of Us&#8221; Becoming Reality?<\/h2>\n<p>After inhaling spores of \u00a0<em>Aspergillus<\/em>\u00a0, individuals may develop \u00a0aspergillosis\u00a0, a respiratory infection. As these fungi enhance their \u00a0geographic conquests\u00a0, they could lose ground in sub-Saharan Africa, which is becoming too hot for them. This trend raises alarming parallels to the fictional scenarios portrayed in the series &#8220;The Last of Us.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A deadly mold threatens humanity.
