The Norwegian boat finished in 3rd place, eight seconds behind the British who won the heat.  Only the two fastest went directly to the semi-finals.  The Norwegian boat came out 6.5 seconds too late to take a direct place in the semi-finals.  The collection heats take place on Tuesday between 12.05 and 12.12.  Earlier on Monday, the Norwegian Rowing Federation issued a press release stating that Erling \u00d8yas\u00e6ter had withdrawn from the WC due to illness.  Mathias Wie came in as a reserve for \u00d8yas\u00e6ter in the double four.  In the doubles, Wie had Martin Helseth, Erik Solbakken and Jonas Juel with him, who have not competed together earlier this season.  If \u00d8yas\u00e6ter recovers, there is an opening in the regulations that says he can return to the boat if the regatta doctor gives the go-ahead.  It is the two best boats that advance to the semi-finals from the trial.  Siri Eva Kristiansen had to settle for third place in the qualifying heat in single sculls for women on Monday afternoon.  Thus, she has to settle for a C or D final in the Czech Republic.
