A decade later, giants like Google and Facebook took over, alongside e-commerce sites like Amazon and eBay. But what is the situation today? On May 6, 2025, Visual Capitalist published an infographic on the subject, based on data from the Digital 2025 Global Overview Report. This document displays the top 20 most visited websites for November 2024.

It comes as no surprise that the giant Google tops the ranking with 136 billion monthly visits. Next in line is YouTube with 72.8 billion visits, a platform owned by Google since 2006. Together, these two titans account for approximately 209 billion visits, a number that is almost 2.5 times greater than the total visits of all other sites in the top 20 combined (84 billion).

Established since the late 2000s but currently experiencing a significant decline, the social network Facebook ranks third with 12.7 billion visits. Following this is the free encyclopedia Wikipedia (4th / 6.9 billion), followed by another Facebook-owned social network, Instagram (5th / 6.8 billion). The community website Reddit remains popular (6th / 6 billion), outpacing the adult site PornHub (7th / 5.3 billion) and Microsoft’s search engine Bing (8th / 5.2 billion). The 9th and 10th places are occupied by the AI platform ChatGPT (4.8 billion) and the social network X (4.3 billion), formerly known as Twitter.

Credits: Visual Capitalist

Some Old Favorites Still Present!

Among the rest of the top 20, a few dinosaurs present twenty years ago still hold their ground, such as the e-commerce site Amazon (13th / 3.6 billion) and the portals Yahoo! (14th / 3.5 billion) and MSN (18th / 2.6 billion). Also noteworthy is the Russian search engine Yandex (11th / 4 billion), which has seen its popularity rise since its timid inception in 1997. Furthermore, two other significant platforms are present: the streaming app Netflix (19th / 2.5 billion) and the Chinese social network TikTok (20th / 2.5 billion).

Finally, let’s mention another platform that is gaining traction: DuckDuckGo. This American search engine, created in 2008, is now the 16th most popular site with more than 3 billion visits in November 2024. The niche of this platform focuses on user privacy, notably blocking hidden trackers, forcing sites to use encrypted connections whenever possible, and allowing private searches when it comes to sharing personal information.

General News – 2

Recently, an infographic listed the most visited Internet platforms.
