\n For the better part of two years, \u00a0\u201cHangman\u201d Adam Page\u00a0 has been on a tumultuous path of destruction and self-loathing, but the once \u201canxious millennial cowboy\u201d of \u00a0All Elite Wrestling\u00a0 (AEW) is now ready to pen a new chapter. As a founding member of the AEW roster and a previous \u00a0World Champion\u00a0, Page is no stranger to carrying gold. However, his journey this year to victory in the \u00a0Owen Hart Foundation Tournament\u00a0, culminating in a main-event match at \u00a0Double or Nothing\u00a0 for a future title shot, is obstructed by an opponent he has yet to face one-on-one in the ring.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cThis is the second year in a row I\u2019ve made the finals. I\u2019m proud of it this year, just as I was last year. I\u2019ll be wrestling \u00a0Will Ospreay\u00a0 at Double or Nothing, and this is one of those matches I\u2019ve been eagerly waiting for. Many fans consider Ospreay to be *the best wrestler alive*, and I wouldn\u2019t argue against that. He\u2019s incredibly talented,\u201d Page remarks. \u201cSince he\u2019s been with AEW, I\u2019ve seen his opponents working harder than ever, often still losing to him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n The phrase \u201cbest wrestler alive\u201d may sound like hyperbole, yet Page\u2019s upcoming opponent possesses the record to substantiate it. Nicknamed \u00a0\u201cThe Aerial Assassin,\u201d\u00a0 32-year-old Ospreay boasts an undefeated streak of \u00a08-0\u00a0 in singles competition for 2025. Furthermore, he was awarded \u00a0Sports Illustrated\u2019s\u00a0 match of the year in 2024 (against \u00a0Bryan Danielson\u00a0) and earned the third spot on \u00a0Pro Wrestling Illustrated\u2019s\u00a0 annual \u00a0\u201cTop 500 Wrestlers\u201d\u00a0 list.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cHe\u2019s someone the fans have fallen in love with, and understandably so,\u201d says Page. \u201cIt feels like two fan-favorites finally facing off. The stakes couldn\u2019t be higher, aside from the winner acquiring a shot at the \u00a0World Championship\u00a0. It\u2019s a little nerve-racking, but it feels good.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n In anticipation of their bout in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Finals, Page and Ospreay briefly teamed up to challenge the \u00a0Don Callis Family\u00a0 (Josh Alexander and \u00a0Konosuke Takeshita\u00a0) in a tag match on a recent episode of \u00a0AEW Dynamite\u00a0. Was Page scouting Ospreay during the tag match?<\/p>\n

\n \u201cOf course I was. I\u2019ve been scouting him since he got here. It was inevitable that I\u2019d face someone as talented as him. I\u2019ve observed his matches, noticing what he excels in\u2014and that\u2019s nearly everything. Yet, I also watch for the subtle flaws in his game that occasionally arise. Subconsciously, I\u2019ve been preparing for this moment for a long time,\u201d Page asserts.<\/p>\n

\n Page and Ospreay\u2019s matchup at Double or Nothing signifies more than merely a clash of two AEW titans; it represents the pinnacle of this year\u2019s \u00a0Owen Hart Foundation Tournament\u00a0, an annual competition honoring the Canadian grappler whose death at a WWF pay-per-view in 1999 sent shockwaves through the wrestling community.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cI\u2019m incredibly proud of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament and AEW\u2014it\u2019s one of the best concepts AEW has created,\u201d Page states. \u201cTo honor Owen Hart, both as a wrestler and as a person, every year, especially with the finals positioned at the pay-per-view and the winner slated to main event the biggest show of the year, grants the tournament significant weight and importance. AEW has managed to commend Owen in this manner, which is immensely fulfilling.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Although \u00a0All Elite Wrestling\u00a0 is still a relatively young promotion (founded in 2019), fans have been following Page for many years through \u00a0\u201cBeing The Elite.\u201d\u00a0 This YouTube series, created by the \u00a0Young Bucks\u00a0 (Nick and Matt Jackson), showcased the adventures of \u00a0The Elite\u00a0, a transformative group of wrestlers including Page, the Bucks, and \u00a0Kenny Omega\u00a0.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cWhen I discuss my career, I cannot do so without acknowledging \u2018Being the Elite\u2019 and its significance in wrestling. In many ways, AEW wouldn\u2019t exist without it. That was the true vehicle that forged a bond with fans and initiated a movement,\u201d Page explains.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cPersonally, \u2018BTE\u2019 stands out as one of the most enjoyable experiences I\u2019ve ever had in wrestling. It\u2019s hard to fathom that it will always be the most fun I have ever enjoyed in professional wrestling, considering that these guys are my closest friends, the individuals I spend as much or more time with than my own family,\u201d he reflects.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cWe all share a love for the same craft. We are all creative artists. Collaborating never felt like work; it consistently felt enjoyable. The passion we shared often kept us up late into the night working on episodes. For our cruise Halloween episode, I didn\u2019t sleep for several days, but it was always a privilege to create,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cAs time progressed, we began to witness the fruits of our labor. We participated in \u00a0Ring of Honor\u00a0 or \u00a0New Japan Pro Wrestling\u00a0 shows, and often, it felt as though crowds were there to see \u2018BTE,\u2019\u201d Page reflects.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cThe audience size and viewership increased significantly, culminating in \u00a0All Elite Wrestling\u00a0 becoming a reality. Meanwhile, there was a sense that our playful antics genuinely reshaped the wrestling landscape in a positive direction, making it a remarkable experience,\u201d he concludes.<\/p>\n

\n However, while Page, Omega, and the Young Bucks’ friendship led to the establishment of AEW, \u201cThe Elite\u201d has since fractured. Each member will participate in \u00a0Anarchy in the Arena\u00a0, a 6-on-6 tag team match that sees the Young Bucks uniting with \u00a0Jon Moxley\u2019s\u00a0 malevolent \u00a0Death Riders\u00a0 stable against Omega and a stellar roster of AEW babyfaces.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cYeah, the Bucks have been rather difficult lately. I need to tread carefully in how I express this. I feel I’ve always tried to be considerate when discussing them, as I owe so much of my career to them, and I\u2019ll forever remain aware of that. But their recent behavior has been quite troublesome, especially towards Kenny,\u201d Page admits.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cI haven\u2019t checked in with Kenny since his return, perhaps not as much as I should have. It\u2019s something I need to remedy sooner rather than later, though I\u2019m uncertain why I haven\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Despite the allure of a victory at Double or Nothing setting Page back on the trajectory toward the AEW World Championship, his last year within the company has been tumultuous. The focus was less about championships and more about avenging personal grievances against \u00a0Swerve Strickland\u00a0. As that bitterness mellows, Page grapples with his identity, questioning why fans continue to support him.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cI ask myself this constantly. When wrestling fans tune in weekly, they witness real aspects of our lives unfold. They may not know us personally, yet it feels deeply personal,\u201d Page states. \u201cIt\u2019s a strange notion, but it conveys meaning in ways I can’t simply articulate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n \u201cAs they watch AEW each week, they perceive facets of us that we may not acknowledge, allowing them to believe in a better version of ourselves than we do. I don\u2019t often emphasize it, but it holds immense significance,\u201d Page concludes.<\/p>\n
