\u201cI\u2019ve been looking to watch this movie for years,\u201d Krasinski shared during an interview with The Associated Press. \u201cThis is the movie I pretended to be in when I was a kid. This is what got me into the business.\u201d This candid remark sets the tone for a film that blends nostalgia with a thrilling storyline.<\/p>\n

There are many elements in \u00a0\u201cFountain of Youth\u201d\u00a0 that attracted \u00a0Portman.\u00a0 The opportunity to collaborate with \u00a0Ritchie, Krasinski,\u00a0 and the entire cast was alluring, but she also sought a film she could share with her children. \u201cIt\u2019s so rare to get to make a movie that has this scale and this scope of adventure that you can watch with your kids,\u201d Portman said. \u201cI\u2019m always looking for something that I can enjoy with my children.\u201d<\/p>\n

Portman\u2019s character, \u00a0Charlotte,\u00a0 is an art historian who enjoyed an adventurous childhood with her explorer father and brother Luke (Krasinski). However, her life has since taken a more conventional path. As the film begins, she navigates a contentious divorce and custody battle over her son. When Luke unexpectedly pilfers a piece of art from her gallery and ropes her into his larger mission, she finds herself donning scuba gear to hunt for a lost \u00a0Rembrandt\u00a0 in the wreckage of the \u00a0RMS Lusitania.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that something we search for as adults is how to regain that youthful spirit,\u201d Portman reflects, connecting her experiences to those of her character. \u201cMaybe that can make you a better parent to have a little bit of that glint in your eye.\u201d Her dynamic with Krasinski flourished on screen, as they embraced their roles as siblings with ease. \u201cThese movies sort of live and die with the relationships,\u201d Krasinski noted. \u201cI laughed with her every single day. She\u2019s so funny.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Historic Shoot at the Pyramids<\/h2>\n

\u00a0Globe-trotting films\u00a0 create unique adventures not only for the audience but also for the cast and crew. The journey for \u00a0\u201cFountain of Youth\u201d\u00a0 spanned the streets of \u00a0Bangkok\u00a0 and \u00a0Liverpool,\u00a0 the Austrian National Library in \u00a0Vienna,\u00a0 and a memorable shoot at the \u00a0Great Pyramids\u00a0. This production distinguished itself as the first film of its scale to be granted permission to shoot action sequences at such an iconic historical site.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was really a pinch-me kind of moment to be like, oh, those are the pyramids, and we\u2019re just hanging out here, filming,\u201d Portman remarked. The grandeur of the location was matched only by the ambition of their stunts, which included landing a \u00a0Boeing Chinook CH47\u00a0 helicopter and detonating a jeep\u2014all while tourists remained on-site. Krasinski humorously added, \u201cWith any luck, we didn\u2019t blow it for Hollywood going back there for somebody else.\u201d<\/p>\n

For safety reasons, most intricate action scenes set \u201cinside\u201d the pyramids were filmed at \u00a0Leavesden Studio\u00a0 in London. Here, they constructed an elaborate wreckage of the Lusitania, filling a massive water tank that took two weeks to fill.<\/p>\n

An Epic Made for the Small Screen<\/h2>\n

At first glance, \u00a0\u201cFountain of Youth\u201d\u00a0 may seem tailor-made for theaters: a blockbuster budget with major stars and breathtaking vistas. However, Krasinski, a staunch advocate for the cinematic experience, is not sorrowful that this film will primarily be streaming. \u201cThis was always going to be a streaming movie,\u201d he stated. \u201cI think that\u2019s the new reality. There are definitely movies that are being made for streaming, and there are movies made for theatrical release.\u201d<\/p>\n

Krasinski added, \u201cIt all depends on what the filmmaker\u2019s intent was, what the studio\u2019s intent is. As long as those rules are laid out clearly, I\u2019m down for either one.\u201d This perspective reflects the evolving landscape of film distribution and audience expectations in the modern age.<\/p>\n
