Instead, these individuals will remain temporarily in \u00a0Djibouti\u00a0, following this legal decision on May 22, 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph\">The government originally sought to fly these immigrants directly to South Sudan, yet faced backlash due to the lack of \u00a0consent\u00a0 from their home nations for such expulsions. The list includes nationals from various countries: \u00a0two Burmese\u00a0, a \u00a0Vietnamese\u00a0, a \u00a0Laotian\u00a0, \u00a0two Cubans\u00a0, a \u00a0Mexican\u00a0, and a \u00a0South Sudanese\u00a0.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph\">On the basis of a ruling made by Judge Murphy, it was determined that the Trump administration had contravened a previous court decision regarding notification protocols. This protocol aims to ensure that no individual is sent back to a country where they may face serious harm or persecution.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"article__sub-title\">Accusations and Aftermath<\/h2>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph\">Following the ruling, former President \u00a0Donald Trump\u00a0 took to his social media platform to criticize the judge&#8217;s decision. He alleged that the magistrate had effectively \u00a0ordered\u00a0 these individuals, described as \u00a0\u201cthe most violent criminals on earth,\u201d\u00a0 to remain in Djibouti instead of reaching South Sudan, where a significant \u00a0U.S. military base\u00a0 is located. Trump expressed disappointment over what he termed a failure to allow these &#8220;monsters&#8221; to complete their journey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph\">Furthermore, the ruling allows six of the eight immigrants\u2014the majority of whom are convicted \u00a0violent offenders\u00a0\u2014to assert their \u00a0fear\u00a0 of torture or ill-treatment should they be returned to South Sudan.
