DREAM MAKERS BALL: A NIGHT OF MAGIC AND HOPE<\/h2>\n

DETROIT (WXYZ)<\/strong> \u2014 The 11th annual Dream Makers Ball brought more than just elegance and celebration; it delivered hope<\/strong>, joy<\/strong>, and a powerful reminder of what\u2019s possible when a community comes together with love.<\/p>\n

Held at the MGM Grand<\/strong>, the event shinned with a Wonka-themed twist<\/strong> and golden tickets<\/strong> in hand. This unforgettable evening united people from across Michigan in support of children facing life-threatening illnesses, all in the name of making wishes<\/strong> come true.<\/p>\n

Hosted by The Rainbow Connection<\/strong>, the night featured delicious food, heartfelt moments, and a fashion show starring Wish kids<\/strong> themselves \u2014 each smile lighting up the runway with strength and joy.<\/p>\n

Now celebrating 40 years, The Rainbow Connection<\/strong> has granted over 4,300 wishes<\/strong> to children across metro Detroit and the state. From dream trips to meeting personal heroes, each wish is designed to lift spirits and give families memories<\/strong> that last forever. Remarkably, there\u2019s no waitlist \u2014 every eligible child receives a wish without delay.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is what we do,\u201d said Executive Director Ingrid Todt<\/strong> in an interview with 7 News Detroit. \u201cIt’s absolutely easy to do what you love. Our mission runs really deep in our office. We have an incredible team at The Rainbow Connection.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the families touched by the nonprofit is the Fallstich family<\/strong>. Their son, Maxwell<\/strong>, now 11, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia<\/strong> at just 2 1\/2 years old. His dream of visiting **Disney World** was delayed due to the pandemic, but The Rainbow Connection never left his side \u2014 staying in touch and surprising him with thoughtful gifts until his wish trip could come true.<\/p>\n

Maxwell wasn\u2019t the only one who received the gift of magic: His little sister and parents joined him on the weeklong Disney trip, creating lasting memories for the whole family.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the first real big road trip he actually took in his life that he can remember,\u201d his dad said. \u201cHe finally experienced the bigger world of life \u2014 not in a hospital or in a house. To him, it was the world opening up to him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maxwell is now healthy and still reflects on what his parents describe as a true VIP experience<\/strong> \u2014 one he\u2019ll never forget.<\/p>\n

The Rainbow Connection isn\u2019t just there during the toughest moments; the support continues for as long as the child wants to stay connected. For many, that relationship continues into adulthood.<\/p>\n

In fact, the nonprofit offers a scholarship program<\/strong> exclusively for Wish kids \u2014 helping them pursue education and build the future they\u2019ve dreamed of. Whether it\u2019s celebrating milestones, providing emotional support, or simply staying in touch, The Rainbow Connection stands by its families every step of the way.<\/p>\n
