A manhunt for inmates who escaped from a **New Orleans** jail by **fleeing through a hole** behind a toilet entered its third day on Sunday, with over a dozen law enforcement agencies involved in the search.<\/p>\n

As of Sunday, seven of the ten escaped inmates remained at large. The **Louisiana State Police** confirmed the situation in an emailed statement. Due to security reasons, they could not provide specific details about the scope of the investigation. The statement highlighted that a **multi-agency task force** was actively scouring the area for the remaining fugitives.<\/p>\n

Among those still at large is **Derrick Groves**, aged 27, who was arrested for the shooting deaths of **Jamar Robinson** and **Byron Jackson** during **Mardi Gras** in **2018**. The inmates were discovered missing during a routine **headcount** at **8:30 a.m.** local time. They are believed to have escaped shortly after midnight. The sheriff detailed that by **12:23 a.m.**, the inmates had managed to pull the sliding cell door off its track, and by **1:01 a.m.**, they exited the facility after breaching a wall located behind a toilet.<\/p>\n

Images released by authorities depict what they describe as clean cuts on the metal bars behind the toilet inside the jail cells. The inmates utilized various toiletry items to remove the toilet and bolts, although the sheriff did not disclose the specific tools used. After escaping the immediate vicinity, the inmates scaled down a wall and fled across the interstate.<\/p>\n

Footage from security cameras released by the **Orleans County Sheriff’s Office** depicted the dramatic escape, showcasing the inmates sprinting out of the prison and onto the freeway.<\/p>\n

In a gesture of defiance, the escaped inmates also left **obscene messages** for the guards, including one misspelled message that read, “to easy, LOL.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
