In a press release made public in the morning by the Firat news agency, close to the armed group, the Kurdistan workers&#8217; party (PKK according to the acronym Kurdish), announced its dissolution and its desire to put an end to the fratricidal battles started in 1984 in the Turkish South-East. The precise human assessment of this war will probably never be known: the figures vary but most of the specialists estimate that more than 40,000 deaths, mostly Kurds, between 3,000 and 4,000 empty or shaved villages, two to three million displaced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph  \">This decision of the PKK leaders comes barely two months after the appeal launched by the founder and historic leader of the organization, Abdullah \u00d6calan, &#8220;apo&#8221; (uncle, in Kurdish) for his supporters, who had, from the bottom of his cell on the island of Prison of Imrali, in the sea of \u200b\u200bMarmara, in which he has been locked up for twenty-six years, enjoined his movement. The Kurdish chief&#8217;s order, made public on February 27, had surprised both experts and public opinion. He followed a mediation cycle launched in the fall by an ally of the government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the ultra -nationalist Devlet Bah\u00e7eli, via the Party of Equality of Peoples and Democracy (DEM), the third political formation of the country and pillar of the Kurdish political movement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"reading-mode-only \"><strong>You have 80.58% of this article to read.
