A number of aircraft are canceled. Norwegian-Pakistani Rabiha Iqbal is with the family in a small village outside the city of Kharian to the north of Pakistan. It is not far from the border with India. – It’s been very tough. It is so uncertain here, Rabiha tells news. She is in Pakistan with her husband and their three young children in nine years, three years and the minest daughter of 15 months. Now they are despairing because they do not get home. Then India attacked neighboring Pakistan, including missiles. – He cried and said: Now we are bombed and then we die. He thought we were going to die, like the children in Gaza, says Rabiha. Pakistan responded with artillery attacks, and it is the worst fighting actions of at least 20 years between the two countries. The family was to return home on Thursday, but the plane was canceled because of the conflict. – No life losing Rabiha, who is in Pakistan, tells of an attack on Friday night. They heard loud noises and looked light in the sky. In addition, there should have been an attack about 40 kilometers away as they noticed. The family is located just outside the city of Kharian north of Pakistan not far from the border with India. For the sister, Smaira Iqbal, which is in Norway, the development is almost unbearable. – I am very worried about how it will develop during the night. There are dramatic changes from minute to minute, says the sister who is in Norway. – We have no life to lose, she says. Smaira Iqbal (left) is in Norway. Rabiha was born and raised in Norway with Pakistani parents, and her mother is also on the trip. This week they were at a ceremony in memory of the father who died three years ago. He is buried in the small village. The last two evenings have armed soldiers walking around the village and knocking on doors. They have been asked to turn off all lights outside the house, she says. The authorities will have the least possible light in case of attack. – It’s very dramatic. Everyone has family members they are worried about. Military is guarded near the Pakistani city of Karachi. Photo: Dangered Khan \/ AP \/ NTB There has been very excited between the two countries since the terrorist attack on tourists in Kashmir on the Indian side a few weeks ago. The escalation is referred to as very serious, since there are two nuclear powers that are in military conflict. Residents of the border areas are now hoarding food and other necessity products, writes Reuters news agency. Many families also flee to safer areas. In recent days, India and Pakistan have accused each other of new attacks. People flee from the border areas on the Indian side to safer areas. She says that there is poor telephone connection in the area where they are, but with the help of the sister in Norway, they have ordered new flights. The family has been contact with the airline several times. – The first possible departure we managed to get hold of was tickets home on May 20. They think they are very long and want the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help them home. They have also been in contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. – We hope we get back earlier, says Rabiha. Tanks are transported to the border just off the big city of Lahore in Pakistan. Photo: Stringer \/ Reuters \/ NTB sharpener Travel warning The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns on Friday night against trips to Pakistan that are not strictly necessary, as well as to the Jammu and Kashmir regions in India. They also discourage travel within ten kilometers from the border between the two countries. The Ministry describes the situation in the border area as unclear and vulnerable. The Foreign Ministry tells news that they have not received many inquiries from people about assistance to return home. “We are aware that there are some cancellations both foreign and domestic, but there are more aircraft, including from Islamabad airport to nearby countries,” says Andreas Bj\u00f8rklund press spokesman. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has encouraged travelers to contact their airline. – We sent a message this week to Norwegian citizens in Pakistan, where we advised them to be vigilant, and listen to the advice of local authorities, says Bj\u00f8rklund. She calls for more advice from the Norwegian authorities to those already in Pakistan. – All Norwegian Pakistanis have family members they are worried about now, she says.
