Tobias Halland Johannessen did well in the end, and with three kilometers left he was well placed in the battle for his and the Uno-X team&#8217;s first stage victory in a world tour race.  In the end, the promising Norwegian finished in 11th place.  In the race, Belgian Wout Van Aert was in front with a few meters left, but he raised his arms when Gadau made the shot over the finish line.  Thus, there was French cheering.  Danish Jonas Gregaard from Uno-X was involved in an early three-man break, but they were picked up again with five kilometers left.  By then, however, the Dane had done a great job in the front all day.  The Uno-X team was close to its first triumph at the world tour level on Monday, but after a day in the break, Anders Skaarseth was beaten at the finish line.  On Tuesday, they tried again in the break, this time with Danish Gregaard.  Edvald Boasson Hagen worked well for TotalEnergie and joint leader Alexis Vuillermoz on Tuesday, but the Frenchman fell far behind in the main field eventually on the hilly stage.  He lost the lead, and Van Aert now has control of the yellow leader jersey.  On Wednesday, the field will go through an individual pace of 31 kilometers.  It runs from Montbrison to La Batie d&#8217;Urf\u00e9.
