In the previous prison meeting, Arne Bye asked to be released. This took place a month ago. During Friday’s meeting, the defendant in Frosta asked to start with a free explanation. Here he went through various topics such as media coverage, prison stays and his own health. Bye gave the impression that sitting in prison has been both mentally and physically tough. He explains about some health problems. The prosecuting authority wants six new weeks in custody should have found the mentioned objects in late April, it became clear what the police had found during the latest searches in the dwelling of Bye. These happened after the trial was completed. Then the police should have found, among other things, the objects described in the indictment against the doctor. In addition, they should have seized new video evidence from the medical office in Frosta. Bye was accused of raping several of his patients by conducting an asthmahalator, a deodorant, a bottle and an “egg -shaped object” into the abdomen of several women. After the trial against Bye was completed in February, several women who were not part of the original indictment, reported the former doctor to the police. There are 24 new women. New day in court The District Court has raised an additional court day on May 14, where the prosecutor will present new evidence. Bye has admitted to raping 21 of his former patients. He has also acknowledged to have abused the position to achieve sexual intercourse with 44 of them. It is expected that judgment in the case will come in early June.
