Production already has begun on the new season of Max\u2019s The Pitt<\/em>, and this time, the producers have their eye on a particular holiday to serve as the backdrop for their day-in-the-life drama. <\/p>\n

While appearing at Deadline\u2019s Contenders TV on Saturday, executive producer R. Scott Gemmill \u2014 who shared the stage with fellow EP John Wells and EP\/star Noah Wyle \u2014 said the next 15 hours of The Pitt<\/em> will take place over a Fourth of July weekend.<\/p>\n

The action will pick up 10 months after the final hour of Season 1, which drops April 10 on Max.<\/p>\n

Wyle even used Saturday\u2019s panel to put out the word about casting for Season 2 of the drama, which follows the medical staff during their 15-hour shift at a fictional hospital in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re calling all pros,\u201d Wyle told the crowd. \u201cWe want people who are good with props and who are used to working in a company, with an ensemble. We want creativity. We want passion. We don\u2019t want ego coming to play. We have tremendous people showing up excited.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the more positive aspects of The Pitt<\/em> \u2014 and take note, bit players \u2014 is how even the background actors remain employed during the entire run of production. Since the show takes place over 15 hours in a single day, everyone who appeared in the first hour of the show has a very good chance of working through the finale.<\/p>\n

\u201cGuest actors who were on the show worked for months, oftentimes just appearing in the waiting room for a scene or two, and then being in the background and then eventually they have a scene,\u201d Wells said. \u201cWe had wonderful actors who signed on to be background for four or five episodes and then had major scenes. So everybody was on set the entire time, including all of our regulars. The set is so deep and big that we see everything so everybody is there.\u201d<\/p>\n

To maintain the continuity, even the crew wears scrubs while the cameras are rolling.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no differentiation between the foreground and the background crew,\u201d added Wyle. \u201cWe are all the company, and we are all going to have a very immersive experience. It\u2019s a very atypical way of working, and hopefully, they\u2019ll come away with something very special.\u201d<\/p>\n

The cast includes Tracey Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, and Shabana Azeez.<\/p>\n
