Both LO and YS require real wage growth for employees in the front subjects. – Value creation in export -oriented industry is very high. The salary share for the employee is too low and has to get up, says Hans-Erik Skj\u00e6ggerud, leader of the Vocational Organizations Central Association (YS). This year’s wage settlement is an intermediate settlement, which means that only pay is negotiated. The deadline for the settlement is April 1st. The business organization’s main organization (NHO) wants to ensure the competitiveness of Norwegian business, and is worried about uncertainty related to higher tariff rates and trade wars accompanied by President Donald Trump. – We fear a cooling of the world economy, and we must take care of our companies’ opportunity to operate in the international market, especially in a situation of trade war and increased customs. There is a lot of uncertainty here, says Ole Erik Almlid, director of NHO. – We must not forget that there is the industry that is most exposed when there is unrest in the world, says Almlid. Krokstad agrees that there is greater uncertainty in the world now. – We are well used to unrest and that NHO highlights this, says Krokstad. Economics commentator at news, Cecilie Langum Becker, believes employees have good cards on hand in the wage settlement and can expect real wage growth this year. YS leader Skj\u00e6ggerud is not worried that wage growth will hit the economy. – It is good to achieve without going beyond inflation and leading to increased mortgage rates for our members, says Skj\u00e6ggerud. Believe in solid real wage rise Kjersti Haugland, chief economy at DNB Markets, says there are several factors that point to the fact that wage earners can fulfill their claim. She believes it is possible to become a wage growth in just under 4.5 per cent this year. It is the export industries that set the norm for wage settlements in society in general. – There is good profitability in the export industry because of a weak krone. When there are good times there, it means that wage ability and wage capacity get stronger than usual. She also points out that the labor market is good. There is low unemployment and labor scarcity. – Then you have to get the wages up to get the ones you want. We believe there will be wage growth in just under 4.5 per cent.
