This was a test flight to see if a brand new Boeing space capsule could be used to fly people and goods to the International Space Station (ISS). – On the way to the space station you saw that there were already problems, says Rannveig Marie Færgestad. Færgestad is a space scientist at NTNU. Færgestad met the astronauts before leaving space. She describes them as down -to -earth people. Photo: Trond Odin Myhre Johansen / news – After they got connected to the space station, many tests were done to check if it was safe to get back down with the crew on board. It ended up that the aerospace organization NASA said it wasn’t safe enough. They would not risk the life of the astronauts. Did you tackle to be alone in space for nine months? 🌙 Yes, I think it would have been cozy ❤ Very uncertain 🤷 shade! I dare to be in the bathroom alone 🚽 by no means 🙅 shade. Show result why so long? – So they must be picked up by the rival Spacex, says Færgestad. They have not been picked up in the past, simply because they cannot set up these capsules in the cabin and weather. – They only have a certain number. And there is a long schedule for when these are going up and down, says Færgestad, who explains that the answer to the astronauts was the following: – One comes up in September. It should be there for six months, and it will go down in March. So they got it joined. In early March, a press conference was held from the ISS. The astronauts will go down to the ground within a few days. Photo: NTB made the most of the situation – I think they have done the best of the situation. This is where they have been training for their entire lives. After all, they are career stron fees, says Færgestad. Both Williams and Wilmore have been in space for a long time and they are not alone up there either. – They are with five other astronauts. And there have been several other crews up and down. So they are in a big bunch of people they love and know well. – I don’t feel left. I do not feel that we are stuck up here, Astronaut Suni Williams told CBS Evening News at the beginning of February and continued: – We have food. We have clothes. We have a way to come home if something really bad happens to the international space station. Suni Williams tells CBS Evening News that she is not feeling abandoned. Here she and “Butch” Wilmore make a pepperonipizza. Photo: NASA via AP / NTB works with research – we are in a situation where we have the international space station fully staffed and do what the taxpayers wanted; To perform world -class science, Williams told CBS Evening News. William said she feels honored to be on the ISS as part of the team. Færgestad says that they are now allowed to do the work they have dreamed of doing all their lives. Research and maintenance work is done at the space station. – The research is about everything, from medical research to growing plants in the room, to researching how weightlessness affects the skeleton, muscles, brain and vision. They observe and take pictures of the soil, in addition to making sure the space station is in order. Færgestad has previously been a rotation candidate at NASA. Then she got to meet Williams and Wilmore and ask them some questions – and they are wonderfully nice people. Incredibly down to earth. Astronauts are actually very down -to -earth, that is. Believe it or not. The astronauts should be on their way down to the earth within a few days.
