Palestinians have denounced, with an open face, the sexual blows and violence inflicted on them in Israeli prisons or by settlers on Tuesday before the United Nations independent commission of inquiry into the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, created by the Human Rights Council.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
“I was humiliated and tortured”<\/em>said Said Abdel Fattah, a 28-year-old nurse arrested in November 2023 near the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza where he worked. He was released the same month. The interrogator “Did not stop hitting me on the genitals … I was bleeding everywhere, penis and anus”<\/em>says the young man in videoconferencing and through an interpreter, recalling a particularly violent interrogation. \u201cI felt like my soul left my body. \u00bb\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n Almost all those arrested in Gaza were naked, said Palestinian lawyer Sahar Francis, the soldiers sometimes rush into the prisoner’s anus. Sexual abuses are “Very widespread”<\/em>according to the lawyer, who considers that this was in particular the case during the first months of the war.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n Mohamed Matar, a Cisjordan resident, testifies before the commission of the hours of torture he suffered in the hands of agents of the Shin Bet (internal security) and Israeli settlers, without the police intervening. Only a few days after October 7, and when he had come to lend a hand to Bedouins attacked by settlers, he and two other men were taken to a stable. There, the head of the troop “On my head and ordered me to eat … the excrement of the sheep”<\/em>he says. In front of dozens of settlers, the man then urinated on the three prisoners.
