The English club of Manchester United unveiled, Tuesday, March 11, its plans to build a new stadium of 100,000 places in the Old Trafford district, where the stadium of the same name is located, a historic pregnant which it has occupied for a hundred and fifteen years. Believing that the venerable structure, which owes its nickname to the Bobby Charlton icon, became aging and <em>&#8220;Was now late compared to the best speakers in the world&#8221;<\/em>the co -owner of the Mancunian team, the British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, said in the <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manutd.com\/en\/news\/detail\/statement-man-utd-confirms-ambition-to-build-a-new-stadium-at-old-trafford\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Nouvelle fen\u00eatre\">Club press release<\/a>his ambition to deliver <em>&#8220;The largest football stadium in the world, at the center of a regenerated district&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph \">The club in northern England specifies that the new stadium, <em>&#8220;Ultramodern&#8221;<\/em>will be built at <em>&#8220;A few steps of Old Trafford&#8221;<\/em>to preserve <em>&#8220;Essence&#8221;<\/em> of this emblematic place. Like many leading teams-starting with Paris Saint-Germain in France-, anxious to increase their income, the Red Devils have been working for several months on the hypothesis of the construction of a new stadium and that consisting in renovating Old Trafford. And like the London clubs in Tottenham or Arsenal, who moved during past seasons, the new Mancunian setting aims to maximize the team&#8217;s income.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph \">Designed by the British Star architect Norman Foster, the new stadium will be overlooked by three gigantic mats &#8211; nicknamed &#8220;the trident&#8221; &#8211; visible from afar, and a sort of &#8220;large umbrella&#8221; protecting the stands and a large esplanade around the rain. The enclosure is part of a large regeneration company in the Old Trafford district, in the south-east of the Mancunian metropolis. And its construction, which the club hopes to be completed in five years, should cost around 2 billion pounds sterling (2.37 billion euros).<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"article__sub-title\">A team engaged in a major restructuring<\/h2>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph \">The fact remains that the club, heavily in debt, has not given details concerning the financing of its new pharaonic cocoon, but says it is confident that the project is <em>&#8220;A very attractive investment opportunity&#8221;<\/em>. Accusing more than 356 million euros in loss over the last three years, according to estimates of <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/football\/2025\/mar\/10\/not-good-enough-and-overpaid-jim-ratcliffe-on-some-manchester-united-stars\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Nouvelle fen\u00eatre\">British daily <em>The Guardian<\/em><\/a>and club debt is now 830 million euros. Since the arrival of Jim Ratcliffe, founder of the Ineos petrochemical giant and the club shareholder at almost 29 % &#8211; and also also the owner of the OGC Nice in France -, Manchester United has been engaged in deep restructuring.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph \">The club owners carried out massive layoffs with the departure of 450 employees, while the price of subscriptions and the cheapest tickets were noted. In parallel, while the Red Devils pennant team-the Premier League male team-continues the disappointments this season and occupies the fourteenth place in the championship, ten days from the term of this one, Jim Ratcliffe estimated with the <em>Guardian <\/em>That some players cost the club dearly and are overpayed with regard to their performance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph \">If the club press release on Tuesday does not specify it, the announcement of this &#8220;new Old Trafford&#8221; probably sounds the death knell for the Mancunian pregnant history. Theater of many exploits of &#8220;United&#8221; through eras, the &#8220;Theater of Dreams&#8221; should be destroyed once the new arena delivered. And the team called on Sir Alex Ferguson to get their message across: <em>&#8220;Old Trafford contains so many special memories for me, but we must be courageous, and seize the opportunity to build a new house, adapted to the future, where a new story will be written&#8221;<\/em>commented the emblematic manager.
