– I hope that in the coming weeks and months we will be able to regain the trust of the voters. That dream is formulated by Ap’s party secretary Kjersti Stenseng when she studies speech in news’s December poll. The poll, which kicks off the Christmas month, is the last at news before we enter a new election year. As a rule, the red Ap graph stands out well. Now one almost has to look a bit. Source: Norstat for news and Aftenposten. Changes measured against the November survey. Among “other” parties, three stand out: the Industry and Business Party 1.7%. Democrats: 1.7%. The pensioners’ party: 1.4%. news conducts the interview with Stenseng when the Labor Party’s people are about to finalize the negotiations with SV on the state budget on Tuesday. She attaches a hope to it. And hope the voters will look positively on the agreement that was finalized yesterday afternoon. – I have faith in the budget agreement, which becomes even clearer about prioritizing those who are having a difficult time now, prioritizing redistribution and financial security in a difficult situation, she says. Little trust HOPE: Party secretary Kjersti Stenseng (Ap). Photo: Håvard Grønli / news But so far this autumn, trust has been lacking from both rich and poor. People struggling to make ends meet have criticized the lack of redistribution when they have met the party in debate. The criticism of the government has been just as harsh from salmon billionaires who dislike the tax changes. The Labor Party has gone from crisis measurement to crisis measurement. The party received an average of 18.3 percent support in the nine opinion polls that were conducted in November, according to the compilation of the survey website Poll of polls. Two polls in particular were shocking for the ruling party Ap last month. With 16.9 at Dagsavisen and FriFagbevegelse, the alarm went off Vårt Land’s measurement of 15.4 showed a new bottom level And then: Today’s figures show that the decline is only continuing. For Ap again goes down from news’s previous survey. The party has been looking for answers. – It is not just one simple move, but I think we are quite united that we must make clear political moves to face an uncertain situation for people. No one knows how the crisis situation will develop. We have to be out there and listen to people, and even though we have presented a budget, we have to come up with solutions to give people security, says Stenseng. Change If there had been an election, there would have been a change of government by a clear margin. Høgre, Frp and Venstre could create a majority government. Here is the number of representatives compared to how many representatives the party has in the Storting today: – I would try to form a broad bourgeois government, says Høgre leader Erna Solberg when asked what she would do if this were the election result. If one takes KrF, Solberg’s side of politics has 90 parliamentary representatives in this poll, on Støre’s side it would be 79. The question is still whether Høgre has passed the top. AT THE TOP: But has it passed? Erna Solberg at the top of the Loen Skylift in Vestland on one of many trips recently. Photo: Håvard Nyhus All the changes in the measurement are within the margin of error, but Høgre seems to have the biggest decline. Last time, the party got a whopping 32.4. No: 30.1. – Do you think the peak has been reached? – We’ll see. Over 30 per cent is a very good result for Høgre. The previous measurement was enormously high. The most important thing we can get is a bourgeois majority which provides the basis for a new bourgeois government when the time comes. Tax debate When Høgre presented his alternative state budget last week, it became clear that the party accepts most of the tax increase that the government has proposed. Party leader Erna Solberg explains this as follows: – There is mainly one area we say yes to. We agree that we should collect money from the power sector, especially hydropower. Among other things, because we pay out a lot of money to people in electricity support. We would also have done this if we were in government. – But we had removed the sharp increase in employer’s tax, and we had come with more tax relief in personal taxes, she argues. In the Labor Party, the Upper House believes that giving the tax relief to those who do not need it is a priority. When Høgre has launched its budget alternative and the government has landed its budget agreement in the Storting, voters can at least consider the political alternatives. – Høgre is the Høgre that people said no to a year ago. It is good that we now have the debate against Høgre about real political alternatives. I hope it will mobilize our people, believes Kjersti Stenseng.
