27 August 2022 at 17:26 Work to reopen the first wooden bridges next week The Swedish Road Administration is now in the final phase of the special inspections of the 14 bridges that were closed after the Thirteen Bridge collapsed. It is expected that the first bridges can be reopened next week, the Swedish Road Administration writes in a press release. On 16 August, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration closed 14 wooden truss bridges, i.e. bridges with similar construction to Tretten bridge. This was done as a precautionary measure, until they know more about the cause of the collapse of the Tretten bridge on county road 254 in Innlandet. – We know that the closed bridges create major challenges for road users. We have worked intensively on inspecting each of the bridges, analyzing the inspection results, and comparing these with what we know about the possible causes of the bridge collapse at Tretten, says Morten Wright Hansen, section manager for Inspection and Safety in the Directorate of Roads. The Swedish Road Administration still does not know the specific reason why Tretten Bru fell, but they know the mechanisms and weaknesses that may have contributed to it happening, the press release states.
