Woman stabbed her roommate in Namsos

On 22 December, the police went to an address in Namsos where a man in his 30s was found dead. A woman has been remanded in custody and charged with grievous bodily harm resulting in death. Both the accused woman and her partner are from Ukraine and had not been in Norway for long. The children were witnesses On Monday, the police inform that the deceased had suffered several stab wounds to the upper body. – We are awaiting final results from the autopsy, which will hopefully give us more knowledge about the sequence of events, says Åsta Elden, prosecuting officer in the case at Trøndelag police district. There were two children present in the basement apartment when the incident happened. – We understand that the children have witnessed what has happened, says Elden to news on Monday. The two children are looked after by the child protection service, which has temporarily taken over responsibility for them. This must be the child of the woman in question. The children’s father lives in Ukraine. – We have questioned the children. It is being considered whether more should be carried out. On Monday, the prosecutor says that the two children who were present must have witnessed the stabbing. The public prosecutor cannot say anything about whether the allegation is weakened or strengthened. – It is a hypothesis that we are investigating as part of the investigation – to inform whether that was the case. The woman has explained that there was violence from both parties prior to the incident. – Can the charge be changed? – Yes, the public prosecutor’s office will continuously assess whether the charges should be changed, says Elden, who confirms that the police have found a knife. Mapping the network Elden says the police will now map the network around the parties and question relevant witnesses. A new questioning of the accused is planned this week. – We will find out if there is someone we should talk to who can provide information about the relationship between the two, she says, adding that the family had not been in Norway for that long when the incident happened. – There also remains to be questioning of witnesses whose names we have – witnesses who were involved in the incident after it happened.
