The woman had been swimming in the Shizuoka region of Japan when she was knocked out and reported missing. 36 hours later, she was found by a cargo ship at sea – 50 kilometers from the beach, writes the BBC. They alerted a smaller boat nearby, which picked the woman up. She was then picked up by helicopter, according to AFP. The woman, who was floating around in a swimming ring, is said to have been dehydrated but still conscious. She said she didn’t make it back to the beach because of the swimming ring.
