The City of Frontignan has implemented various actions for young people from the city wishing to stay in the European Union. Detail review.
Erasmus +: Opening Doors for Youth in Frontignan
If you’re between 13 and 30 years old and dreaming of exploring Europe, the Erasmus + program could be your ticket to adventure—even on a budget! As André Gide wisely stated, “There are no problems, there are only solutions.” In Frontignan, solutions for youthful explorers can be found at the European and International Youth Mobility Office, often referred to as MEI or the Erasmus office.
A Diverse Array of Opportunities
The Erasmus + program encompasses four key actions designed to empower young individuals:
One-Week Group Stays: This action allows groups to immerse themselves in different cultures through a structured week-long experience.
Participation Projects: Tailored for eco-delegates from educational institutions, this initiative has aided 57 young people since 2006. These projects encourage youth to engage in local, national, or transnational activities, promoting cultural exchange and civic responsibility. Mohamed Boudiaf, project manager at MEI, emphasizes that such activities sharpen essential skills and foster active European citizenship.
Cross-Cultural Exchange Projects: This educational initiative encourages youth from various countries to unite around shared themes, enhancing their skills outside of traditional classrooms. In 2025, 14 young people aged 13 to 17 traveled to Portugal to engage in discussions focused on pressing issues like mental health.
Discover EU: Train Travel for the Less Advantage
Another promising aspect of the Erasmus + program is the “Discover EU” initiative, designed specifically for underprivileged youth aged 18 to 30. This innovative program offers young people the chance to travel across Europe by train for free for a week or more. Launched in 2023, this initiative has quickly become the centerpiece of the Erasmus + offerings. Last year, 20 young people from Frontignan toured four to five European countries, uncovering cultural heritage and history while forming new connections.
Participating in “Discover EU” involves a comprehensive learning experience. Young travelers engage in destination selection, trip planning, and a review process post-travel—ensuring they reap the full educational benefits of the journey.
Promoting Awareness and Participation
To maximize engagement with these programs, the Erasmus office in Frontignan employs various promotional strategies, such as instilling European awareness in schools, organizing European workshops in collaboration with local associations, and celebrating Europe annually. Since 2008, the city has also welcomed European volunteers, acting as vital conduits for these initiatives and further encouraging youth participation.
With the Erasmus + program, youth from Frontignan have unparalleled opportunities to explore Europe, gain new experiences, and become more engaged citizens. Don’t miss your chance to embark on an enriching adventure—apply for one of the upcoming travels and take the first step toward your European journey!
