Will scrap video refereeing (VAR) – news Trøndelag – Local news, TV and radio

The proposal was one of the most heated topics at the annual meeting, where almost 900 members met. An overwhelming majority voted to scrap VAR, as many as 75 percent of the members voted for the proposal. The board of directors in Rosenborg had themselves decided not to scrap it, but to continue developing video refereeing. But the majority of members went instead for the proposal that came from Emil Almås and Ole Christian Gullvåg. – Kills the moment The introduction of video refereeing has been controversial. Not only in Norwegian, but also international football. The long waiting time for the decision and the fact that errors still occur have been arguments that the introduction has not worked. – Everyone has a moment that makes you love Rosenborg. Football is a moment and video refereeing kills the moment, Gullvåg said from the podium. Proposed by Ole Christian Gullvåg. Photo: Christian Aras Shuany / news He has no doubt that video refereeing has ruined much of football. – We understand that the decision will make it difficult for the club to improve. But VAR must not be improved, it must be removed. Gullvåg chose to appeal to the feelings of the members. – I would like to ask that the annual meeting take a moment and realize that we are here today, and not at home on the sofa. It’s because he loves Rosenborg and football. Let the next generation get to experience moments as many as we did. Real, unedited moments. I think it will cost the club financially Ola By Rise and Tore Reginiussen address the board at the annual meeting. They, too, were clear about the challenges of video refereeing. – There are not two VAR supporters here and we have great understanding for the supporters, the best group of supporters in the country. We also experience that the spontaneous joy disappears. The time consumption in particular has been great and it is a challenge. Nevertheless, Rise was clear that scrapping video refereeing is not a good solution. – Withdrawing can have financial consequences, quite large consequences. There is a common attitude to develop VAR into a better tool. There will be fewer match-deciding mistakes, and it gives better support to the referees. Reginiussen agreed. – VAR has come to become international, and it is definitely a competitive advantage to have VAR in the domestic league when you meet it internationally. Clubs such as Brann, Lillestrøm and Strømsgodset have all decided against video refereeing. Molde, Viking, Odd, Kristiansund and YMCA have agreed at their annual meetings to continue with video judging. The proposal at RBK’s annual meeting that was adopted about VAR: • Rosenborg Ballklub is against the introduction of VAR. • Rosenborg Ballklub must actively work to remove VAR from Norwegian football immediately. • Rosenborg Ballklub must cooperate with other clubs and organizations that the club’s representatives meet in the process of discontinuing VAR. • Rosenborg Ballklub must actively promote proposals to abolish VAR, and oblige the club’s representatives to vote for others’ proposals to abolish VAR in Norwegian football.
