The year’s best Norwegian films will be chosen when the 40th awarding of the Amanda Prize takes place on Saturday 24 August. One of the statuettes to be handed out is the public award Folkets Amanda. This award goes to one of the films that has attracted the most Norwegians to cinemas since last summer. It is still not a roll of the dice or a ticket office that decides who gets the People’s Amanda – you decide that, by voting for your favourite. Voting takes place by SMS and voting is free. You can vote until 23 August at 12.00. The film was seen by over 130,000 visitors to the cinema. The film is based on the critically acclaimed book of the same name by Ibelin Akerlie. Director Stordahl has created an effective script that tugs at the audience’s heartstrings, Vestmo believes. – “Lars is LOL” has the right mix of deep seriousness and disarming humor so that the important message should reach those it is meant to reach. Rørvik and illustrator Gry Moursund from 2009. The film was seen by over 170,000 visitors to the cinema. The audience votes for the winning film, and the five most watched films this year are nominated. The prize was awarded for the first time in 2003 as the People’s Film Prize, but then to a person who had distinguished himself in the film industry.
