– What have I done to deserve this? – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcasting schedule

20-year-old Jæger was previously mentioned as a medal candidate, but had to settle for fourth place in the 200 meters on Tuesday evening. – Fourth place is a sour position, if I’m honest, she says to news shortly after the race. She was mostly satisfied with her performance, but was clearly annoyed that she missed out on a medal in what was her first outdoor EC as a senior. When news then came out on the training track a few minutes later, Jæger was met there by a large part of the Norwegian 4×400 meter relay team. Earlier in the day, they were marginally beaten, but in the meeting with Jæger, everyone was smiling. The hugs and kind words came one after the other, before Jæger was on his way down towards the tunnel and away from the training pitch. Then suddenly Amalie Iuel, Josefine Tomine Eriksen, Linn Oppegaard, Elisabeth Slettum, Lakeri Ertzgaard and Laura van der Veen started to take the wave. After a few seconds, they also got the attention of Jæger, who was clearly moved by her teammates. – Hello, what have I done to deserve this?, Jæger asks shortly afterwards, addressing his mother and trainer, Unn Merete Lie Jæger. WAS DISAPPOINTED: Jæger was clearly unhappy after fourth place on Tuesday evening. Here right after the race. Photo: BILDBYRÅN – It’s sad to say that Henriette Jæger did not participate in the preliminary heat of the 4×400 meters to focus on the 200 meters, but would have been part of the Norwegian team if they had made it to Wednesday’s final. Jæger ran the anchor leg during both the attempt and the final in the Relay WC earlier this year, where Norway finished fifth. – They ran really well. It is incredibly boring that the final place was lost, but they ran extremely well. You can’t help but be satisfied. But we had a bit of a fight there, she says, and summarizes that it was also a fight for her own part. – So it feels like a bit of a day out? – It’s an ugly thing to say. A fourth place and a Norwegian record for the girls. You can’t be dissatisfied with that. But we would have liked to have been in the final, and I would have liked to have been on the podium, says Jæger. Still unsure of choice of distance She herself was both at a loss and frustrated after Tuesday’s 200 metres. – It wasn’t quite me. That’s what’s a bit strange. I opened very well. The first 100 meters I think I went very fast, but then I stiffened. And I don’t usually do that on 200, so it was a little weird. But that’s the way it is, she says. Now the question is whether there will be 200 or 400 meters in the Olympics in seven or eight weeks. – Have you become any wiser about which distance you should bet on? – I hoped I would become wiser at this championship, but I probably didn’t. We have to take that as it comes, says Jæger. Watch the 200 meter final here: – What will it take to get you happy again tonight? – I get to sleep on it for a while, and then I don’t know. If I get some chocolate, I’ll be happy. And then to have a good chat with mum, says Jæger. It probably also helped a lot with the support of the relay friends on the way into the evening.
