– We will have TV 2, and nothing else – news Rogaland – Local news, TV and radio

– Now they have not delivered since 1 April. You can get some points as compensation, but it gives channels with very little interest. It’s TV 2 we’re going to have, and nothing else, says Jostein Haga. He is chairman of a condominium with 44 housing units at Kleppe på Jæren. The condominium had an agreement with Altibox, but they no longer have that. There are black screens where there used to be TV 2. So now the 44 housing units will instead watch TV supplied by Telenor. – Those of whom I am chairman applaud. Those who are neighbors are curious about what we have achieved with the agreement, he says. Has lasted seven months. It was in April that Altibox and TV 2 did not come to an agreement. Despite new attempts at negotiation, the TV provider and the channel have not entered into a new agreement. In other words, Altibox’s customers still have black TV 2 screens. But it doesn’t seem like it will in this case, says Haga, who believes that the condominium’s transfer to Telenor is this consequence for Altibox. Arne-Inge Christophersen is general manager of the media agency Marketing Toolbox. Earlier this year, he was absolutely certain that the two would come to an agreement. Seven months on, he’s not so sure. – At the start, I think there were many who were cursed at TV 2 who did not come to an agreement with Altibox. Now I think that the wind has turned a bit, and many people are a bit upset because Altibox cannot find a solution to get TV 2. Soon the football World Cup TV 2 and news will share the rights to broadcast the football World Cup 2022 in Norway. Christophersen believes that many people with Altibox have found other ways to watch what they want from TV 2’s content, but that football is in a separate category. – When it comes to sports, you want to watch live. Then it probably escalates a bit, he believes, which points out that Altibox is falling quite a bit on customer satisfaction measurements on which they have previously ranked high. According to Kampanje, it is the first time in many years that Altibox has not come top in Epsi’s measurement of customer satisfaction among broadband providers. Many customers express that they miss TV 2, confirms Altibox communications manager Andreas Veggeland. Andreas Veggeland, communications manager at Altibox. Photo: Altibox – It has been important for us to reach an agreement that is palatable for our customers. Then they shouldn’t have to pay too much or be forced into content they don’t have the opportunity to opt out of. He says they have a dialogue with TV 2, and that they are still working to reach a new agreement. – I have good faith that we will achieve that, he says, who does not want to say anything about whether Altibox feels increased pressure considering that the football World Cup is just around the corner. TV 2: – We are doing what we can – I feel that both Altibox and TV 2 are determined to get this in place as quickly as possible, so I hope we can come up with some good news before too long. Sarah Willand, director of marketing, organization and communication at TV 2, expresses the same. Sarah Willand, director of marketing, organization and communication at TV 2. Photo: Eivind Senneset / TV 2 – We do what we can to reach an agreement. There is still dialogue, and we are working to come up with solutions, she says, who understands the Altibox customers who are frustrated and impatient. The Ministry of Culture states that it is the Norwegian Media Authority that supervises whether TV 2 meets the requirements of the agreement with the state. – The Norwegian Media Authority has not uncovered a breach of the agreement in those cases where viewers have lost access to TV 2. Otherwise, the agreement neither regulates which distributors TV 2 negotiates with nor how they come to an agreement on solutions. We therefore cannot have a role in these negotiations, writes State Secretary Gry Haugsbakken in an e-mail to news.
