We need new policies! – news Norway – Overview of news from different parts of the country

– We need new politics, not old politics. We can’t take old matches over again, says Melby to news. The Conservative Party’s wishes for petroleum activities outside Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja are just one example of an old debate which, according to Melby, should have been put to rest long ago. – That matter is over. We will not drill for oil in our dinner plate, says the Liberal leader. The Progress Party and KrF should also shelve old issues and rather look to the future, she believes. – We have debated the woman’s right to decide over her own body. We have debated petrol prices. Now we must promote new policies that solve the climate crisis, the security challenges and the absenteeism crisis in schools. Then we can’t spend time on old battles on the bourgeois side, she says. Drop SV, says the Conservative Party to the governing parties. The Conservative Party will secure a majority for exploration for more gas. Trio takes re-election Guri Melby meets news with its two deputy chairmen Sveinung Rotevatn and Abid Raja at the Town Hall Square in Oslo. The leadership trio is holiday-ready and dressed for summer, but is already looking forward to the long election campaign ahead of next year’s general election. Because all three of them have decided to run for re-election to the Storting and continue together in Venstre’s leadership. The big goal is to get the Liberal Party into government with a bourgeois majority. – Do you want the Progress Party and KrF in this government? – We have said that we will sit down and find a solution on the civilian side. Then the other parties must be clear about what they want. But it is also important to put old issues behind us, says Melby. Photo: Alem Zebic – So when the Høyre, KrF and Frp find their issues from the party programmes, is it wrong? But when you do the same, it’s okay? – We do not agree on everything, and we will not be. But we can’t play all the old battles over and over again. We have many other challenges to discuss. – What kind of responsibility does Erna Solberg herself have for clearing up these debates, then? – Today’s government is a reversal government. The whole point of replacing it must be precisely that we should develop a new policy. Erna Solberg must also be clear that she wants that. Solberg: Short-sighted about her own ego Conservative leader Erna Solberg has little left over for the demands of the Liberal Party. – I don’t think parties should cancel other parties’ policies. When working together, we find good joint solutions. We do not cancel the primary policy of other parties, says Solberg to news. Erna Solberg visited the Young Conservatives’ national meeting at the weekend. Here she is pictured together with Ola Svenneby by Høyre’s information manager Iris Aunvik Tveten. Photo: Mats Rønning / news She attended the national meeting of Unge Høyre at the weekend, but did not have the pleasure of witnessing that the youth party changed its old position on the protection of the marine areas outside Lofoten. On Saturday, Unge Høyre even announced that the marine areas should be fully protected. But Erna Solberg was at least able to point out from the podium how important she thinks it is that Norway secures deliveries of gas to Europe. More Norwegian gas is necessary to avoid European dependence on Russian gas, she believes. – Do you think it is untimely, what the Liberal Party is bringing? – I think that it becomes a little short-sighted about one’s own ego. If you have to cancel others, for what you define as wrong politics, while you yourself have no self-examination of your own affairs. We found good solutions when we were in government, and I think we will continue to do so in the future. Published 23.06.2024, at 18.57
