– We have regained some of our dignity with this promotion, says Horneland to BA. Because when Peter Godly Michael sent Grorud up to 2-1 against Ranheim in the 89th minute, Brann could cheer for promotion back to the Eliteserien. Amazingly, the red shirts only needed 23 games to secure the Eliteserie ticket. – We would have liked to have done it by playing ourselves, but we will take the promotion – we are very happy about that. That was this year’s big goal, says Horneland. – It feels very good to be promoted. It’s kind of weird, it’s felt clear for a while. It is of course nice that everything is secured. Now it can’t go wrong. And it’s a good feeling, says Sivert Heltne Nilsen to news. He was also involved in the promotion in 2015. We want to continue to develop. We have to get even better if we are to be ready for the Eliteserien. – Will there be any celebration? – I have no idea. I think there will be little celebration. We get to celebrate with Brann 2 beating Lysekloster. I hope they win, says Heltne Nilsen It was 0-0 between Brann 2 and Lysekloster when the interview took place. CELEBRATION: Brann’s 2-0 victory against Åsane last Saturday was enough to ensure that the Bergen team moved up to the Eliteserien after only 23 games. Photo: MARIUS SIMENSEN / BILDBYRÅN NORWAY Surprising Grorud victory Brann depended on Ranheim losing points away to Grorud to secure promotion tonight. The Oslo team had not won a single game so far this season, and Ranheim were big favourites. The guests were far from dominant away from home and missed a handful of Grorud chances. Nevertheless, it was the fourth in the table who took the lead in the 61st minute when Vegard Erlien scored. Three minutes before full-time, Grorud was finally rewarded for his offensive pressure. Fabian Østigård Ness moved from the left and down towards the near post and knocked the ball into the goal from an acute angle. And it didn’t take more than two minutes for the hosts to take the lead. Omar Bully Drammeh hit hard in front of goal, where Peter Godly Michael appeared and stuck his foot forward. It secured both promotion to the Eliteserien for Brann and Grorud’s first win in the 1st division this season. Could be a record season After 23 games, Brann has a whopping 63 points. Aalesund has the record of 79 points which they set in 2019. If Brann wins their remaining games, the team from Bergen can end up with 84 points. In addition, Brann can take Bodø/Glimt’s goal record from 2017. The reigning Eliteserie champions scored 83 times at the second highest level in 2017. So far, Brann has scored 69 times.
