Warning against slippery roads in southern Norway – news Vestfold and Telemark – Local news, TV and radio

– It looks like it will be relatively wet over the next few days, confirms state meteorologist Martin Granerød. Norway’s Directorate of Water Resources and Energy has warned of flood danger, with a yellow level for the Skagerak coast from Lindesnes to Telemark. Rising temperatures Temperatures are expected to rise, which is already being felt in traffic in Southern Norway. It is already raining a lot there, which means soapy roads in several places. – Rain on top of snow can cause periods of icy and slippery roads. There can also be slush and storm water with a lot of snow, warns Granerød. A lot of precipitation Large amounts of precipitation are expected, which means that the Meteorological Institute has issued a so-called “yellow danger warning”. This is used for a moderately dangerous situation, which may cause damage locally. This currently applies in the inner regions of Southern Norway and parts of Eastern Norway. Further inland, there will still be relatively large amounts of snow. – Locally, 10–30 cm can fall at the most, says the meteorologist. The snow line is expected to rise to 300-500 meters during the course of tomorrow. More incidents Several incidents have been reported in traffic on Tuesday afternoon and evening. At Sauland in Hjartdal, a wagon train has overturned on the smooth road. The driver escaped unhurt from the incident, and recovery work is ongoing at the scene. At Gransherad in Notodden, two wagon trains were stopped between Mæl and Tinnoset on Tuesday evening. The Norwegian Road Traffic Agency encourages people to drive according to the conditions. – Everyone who is out driving must be a little extra attentive. It is important to drive carefully and take it easy, says Kjetil Løvås, traffic operator at the Vegtrafikksentralen. They announced earlier today that they are working hard to make the roads passable despite the demanding weather conditions. Ole Petter Ruud in the Road Traffic Center stated on Tuesday morning that they will work continuously with plowing. – In places where it has stopped snowing, we ensure that the plowing is finished, and then we will start preventive littering measures in the places that are most exposed. In Oslo and Viken there is also a warning of slippery roads this evening. Scatter trucks have been sent out in a number of places.
