Vy increases train departures on Bergensbanen – news Vestland

On Sunday 10 December, the train routes in Norway will change, and this will, among other things, affect travelers on the Bergen Railway. As of 1 May 2024, the number of departures between Bergen and Oslo will increase from four to six each way, writes Vy in a press release. – We are sure that this gives our customers an easier everyday life, and makes it easier to choose the train when you are going to work or out and about in Bergen, says regional director of Vy Vest, Yvonne Torgersen Hetlevik. Vy has long wanted to run more departures, but with fewer travelers during the pandemic, it has not been possible until now, the company writes in the press release. – We strongly believe that there are grounds for running more departures. We believe that this will attract even more travelers from both Norway and abroad, says Torgersen Hetlevik. Double track between Bergen and Arna Bergen railway station is currently closed to passenger traffic because Bane Nor is completing the double track that will run between Bergen and Arna. When Bane Nor has completed this work, and opens in spring 2024, Vy will also increase traffic on the section between Bergen and Arna. – We know that customers have been waiting a long time for more departures between Bergen and Arna, and we are incredibly happy to say that it will happen from May 2024. Then we will run trains every quarter of an hour Monday to Friday between 06.00 and 20.00, and every half hour in weekends, says Torgersen Hetlevik.
