9 December 2022 at 20:51 Vice-president of the European Parliament arrested Belgian police on Friday evening arrested one of the vice-presidents of the European Parliament, Greek Eva Kaili, reports AFP. The arrest took place in connection with an investigation into a corruption case in which Qatar is said to be involved. Earlier on Friday, four other people connected to the EU Parliament were also arrested. Over time, Belgian police have suspected that a Gulf state has tried to influence the EU parliament, among other things by giving gifts and money to people in central positions. The prosecution says the investigation focuses on a possible criminal organization and allegations of corruption and money laundering. In connection with the raid, 600,000 euros in cash were seized, in addition to PCs and mobile phones.
