Vestfold line between Larvik and Porsgrunn closed – news Vestfold and Telemark – Local news, TV and radio

Train traffic between Larvik and Porsgrunn was temporarily closed at 5pm on Monday. – The section is closed following an order from the Norwegian Railway Inspectorate on the basis that we lack documentation relating to the completed signaling system. This is what Bane Nor’s press officer, Øystein Stavdal Paulsen, told news. The new train section between Porsgrunn and Larvik was opened in 2018. At that time, Bane Nor received a temporary permit to run trains while they waited for final documentation, they write in a press release. Fined for operating illegally – This is a very regrettable situation that we must get cleaned up as quickly as possible, says Bettina Sandvin, Executive Vice President Development at Bane Nor in the press release. They apologize to the travelers and to Vy that they had to close. – This is simply embarrassing. Bane Nor subsequently applied for a further extension of the time-limited permit several times, they write. The last time was in September and then the permit was until 1 December 2023. That deadline was not met by Bane Nor, and they were therefore now required to close. Bane Nor has also been fined NOK 10,000 per day since 1 October. The amount has now reached NOK 610,000. – We fully understand that the Norwegian Railway Inspectorate is now putting its foot down. We are now working to get the necessary documentation in place as quickly as possible, says Sandvin. Erik Reiersøl-Johnsen, director of the Norwegian Railway Inspectorate, tells NTB that Bane Nor has been operating illegally in recent days. – They have not documented that they drive safely. They have an obligation to document that security is taken care of, they have not done that, he tells NTB. Both at Porsgrunn station and Larvik station there are buses for trains. Rune Brekken and Camilla Østvedt are both on their way to the capital for work. Camilla Østvedt and Rune Brekken have been waiting for a while at Porsgrunn station. Photo: Vegard Unger Ellefsen / news – They say it’s embarrassing, but it’s a little more embarrassing for us who first have to wait in Porsgrunn when the bus is delayed, and then it doesn’t make it to the departure in Larvik. And we then have to wait for the next train again, says Brekken. Østvedt reacts to little information. – We the passengers just have to stand and wait. It is not optimal. It’s pretty stiff and cold. Vy writes on its website that delays and adjustments must be expected.
