– I had some challenges with my heart on others lying down. It made it difficult to shoot and I spent quite a long time. It didn’t stop completely after I finished shooting. Then it was difficult to go as fast as I wanted on skis, says Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold to news. – How are you doing now? – It’s going well. It happens quickly and passes quickly. Tandrevold was the second slowest of all 99 runners in the fourth round in the short-normal distance. Tandrevold only missed once and was in the close range for a long time, but the trouble in the track cost her a good position. It was therefore on the second prone shooting that the problems started for the Norwegian biathlon profile. She took a long time to get started with the series and she took breaks in the middle of the series. It made Lunde startled, but the cause was trouble with his heart. French Lou Jeanmonnot was the best and took the victory 12.3 seconds ahead of Sweden’s Ella Halvarsson and 56.4 seconds ahead of Elvira Öberg. Tandrevold lost abnormally much to Jeanmonnot on the fourth lap: 8.8 km: Tandrevold 29 seconds behind Jeanmonnot 9.1 km: Tandrevold 37.1 seconds behind Jeanmonnot 9.4 km: Tandrevold 50.5 seconds behind Jeanmonnot In for shooting (so approx. 9.8 km): 1.20.6 minutes behind Jeanmonnot WIN: Lou Jeanmonnot was fastest of all on the The 12.5 km long short-normal distance. Photo: BILDBYRÅN Has also had heart problems in the past The heart problems meant she had to stop on the trail. – I tried to use the tricks I’ve learned to make it stop, and it didn’t work as well as I wanted today and had to stop along the way. Then I obviously lost a lot of time, but I had no choice, she says and continues: – I had to stop, calm my pulse, use some techniques I have learned and wait until it passed before I could go on again. Also in the past, Tandrevold has been open about problems with his heart during races. Among other things in 2021, when she had heart fibrillation and collapsed after the finish line. TROUBLE: Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold says there was trouble with her heart on the third shooting. Photo: Christian Grotnes / news – Someone has checked this before and I’ve had it checked out, it’s just unfortunate that it happens during a ski race, she says after Wednesday’s race. – What happens next, are you ready for the sprint? – It’s a bit difficult to say right now, but I certainly believe so and I hope so at least. Then we’ll just see how it feels over the next few days. – She manages this best herself. It is something she has experience with and has control over together with doctors and such. We just have to trust that they do the right things and make the right assessments, says national team manager Per-Arne Botnan. news’s biathlon expert Ola Lunde fears the consequences if this continues for Tandrevold. – It can ruin the whole season and career. Very special Several experts reacted to Tandrevold’s violent loss in the track before they knew what had happened. – It is very, very special. Something must have happened out on the trail there. An accident or something, says Lunde. EXPERT: news’s biathlon expert Ola Lunde. Photo: Vidar Ruud When many speculated whether something had happened to Tandrevold, there was great uncertainty among commentators, experts and those present at the stadium. news was talking to people in the Norwegian support apparatus, but they also could not say what had happened to the Norwegian biathlon team. Between the third and fourth shooting, she lost almost a minute. She lost 24 seconds in the last 600 meters before the fourth shooting. – There was a huge time difference, so something must have happened. It should not normally be possible at Ingrid’s level, because she is so strong at skiing. Whether she has hit a rock and braked her skis or been out in the ditch … I feel she has been down a place now, adds TV 2’s biathlon expert Ole Einar Bjørndalen. Former teammate Tiril Eckhoff was also surprised. – This is not Ingrid as I know her, so I am very excited about whether it was Ingrid or whether something has happened, says Eckhoff, current TV 2 expert. For several of the other Norwegian women, it was a difficult day at the stand. Karoline Offigstad Knotten had a nightmare start with three misses on the first shoot, while Maren Kirkeeide, Emilie Ågheim Kalkenberg and Gro Randby also had to endure a number of misses. Lunde was not impressed by the Norwegian team effort: – It was weak and a disappointment. Tandrevold delivers well from the stand, while the others shoot too poorly. As of now, Tandrevold is the only one with the potential to assert himself at the very top. The race was the first individual race of the World Cup season for the women. It went better for the men the day before, where they crushed both Swedish and French competitors. It was Endre Strømsheim who took a surprising victory ahead of Johannes Thingnes Bø and Sturla Holm Lægreid. Published 04.12.2024, at 17.45 Updated 04.12.2024, at 19.36
