Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo scored twice each in Liverpool’s 5-1 win over West Ham in the League Cup third round on Wednesday. West Ham took the lead away from home when Liverpool stopper Jarell Quansah was the last man on the ball after a mess in the field. Four minutes later, the teams were level thanks to an alert Diogo Jota. Early in the second half, the same man was on the move, and on a great pass from Curtis Jones, Jota surely scored. With 20 minutes remaining, substitute Mohamed Salah added to make it 3-1, before he was the victim when Edson Álvarez picked up his second yellow card and was sent off shortly afterwards. In the match, Cody Gakpo settled the result with two quick scores. Liverpool are the most successful in the league cup with their ten titles, the most recent of which came earlier this year.
