Unesco believes the Bybanen will be good for Bryggen – news Vestland

11 November 2022 at 15:08 Unesco believes the Bylane will be good for Bryggen In a new report on how the Bylane will affect Bryggen in Bergen, Unesco concludes that a route along Bryggen “will be a great advantage both for the site itself, but also for the city of Bergen”. The question has been the most heated issue in Bergen’s politics for a number of years, and opponents have used the world heritage site as an argument against laying the light rail line right here. Unesco was invited to visit Bergen this autumn, and the report will be advisory to local authorities. Although the conclusion is positive, they warn of the dangers to the World Heritage Site. Therefore, they come up with 18 specific pieces of advice on what should be done to ensure that the construction is not destructive to Bryggen. Among other things, they recommend that simpler solutions be considered for the route, for example a single track over Bryggen.
