– For almost a month, the world has watched with shock and horror how the situation has developed in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, and how the number of lives lost and destroyed has increased rapidly, write the UN leaders. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claimed on Sunday that they had “split the Gaza Strip in two”. The leaders of, among others, Unicef, the World Food Program (WFP) and the World Health Organization (WHO), Save the Children, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Care International are among those who have signed the letter. They also say that more food, water, medicine and fuel must be brought in to help the population in Gaza. – We need an immediate humanitarian ceasefire. 30 days have passed. Enough is enough. This must end now, says the statement. Since 21 October, 451 trucks have crossed the Rafah border crossing with help and entered the Gaza Strip via Egypt. The UN has said that there is a need for at least 100 trucks every day to cover the need for food, water, medical equipment and fuel for the population.
