Two men sentenced to prison for gross fraud against the Housing Bank – news Vestland

Sogn og Fjordane District Court has sentenced two men to prison for gross fraud against the Housing Bank, gross financial infidelity and violation of accounting rules, writes Økokrim in a press release. The district court has come to the conclusion that this is a fraud that resulted in a loss for the Housing Bank related to paid supplements of NOK 7,357,000. One man has been sentenced to prison for 3 years and 3 months, and to confiscation of dividends of more than 900,000 kroner. He is also deprived of the right to run an independent business, be a daily camper or hold a leading position in a company, as well as the right to hold a board position in a company indefinitely. The other man has been sentenced to prison for 2 years and 9 months, and to confiscation of dividends of more than NOK 1.3 million. The prison sentence is two months longer and seven months shorter than the prosecutor’s claim. In addition, the two must jointly pay NOK 4.2 million in compensation to the Housing Bank. The two convicts said they would renovate homes for the disadvantaged, but documents showed that they stated incorrect purchase prices for several of the houses. In total, they received NOK 86 million in loans and grants from the Housing Bank in the period 2015 to 2017, of which NOK 32 million is covered by the indictment.
