The daily air trip in Ringsaker turned out to be more dramatic than the 78-year-old had ever imagined. – I was completely shocked. I thought he was a peaceful man. I would never have thought that he would beat us two old men down, so that we would lie in the ditch and almost fight for our lives, says Einar Lyngar. After searching for the perpetrator throughout Sunday, a man in his 30s was arrested by the police on Sunday evening. Hit and kicked Einar Lyngar and the dog was walking on the Tourist Road in Moelv when he met the neighbor who he stopped and talked to. As they stood there a man they had not seen before came. Seconds later it slammed. When the man passed the two older men, he asked, according to Einar Lyngar, if they had a problem. They denied that they had any problem, but got the feeling that the man was looking for trouble. – Suddenly he reaches my neighbor so he goes straight into the ditch, says Lyngar. He says that the unknown man started hitting and kicking both the body and the head of the elderly man who had fallen into the ditch. The man then allegedly strung Einar Lyngar’s leg so that he also ended up in the ditch. I put my hands in front of my face to avoid being hit, he says. He could hardly believe what he was experiencing. – It was completely unreal, he says to news. The man who allegedly hit and kicked the two older men disappeared from the scene shortly afterwards and Lyngar was able to call the police. It was the local newspaper GD that mentioned this case first. Notified the police The police confirm that they received the report at 9 o’clock on Sunday morning, but it was not until 6 o’clock in the evening that a man in his 30s was arrested. The police have looked at surveillance images and received several tips which led to what they believe to be the perpetrator. He is known to the police and has previous convictions. Now he is charged with bodily harm. Operations manager at the Innlandet police district, Kristian Bjaanes, says they take the case very seriously. The two elderly men were questioned by the police on Sunday afternoon. – There is obviously no reason for this that can be attributed to the two victims, says Bjaanes. He cannot say how the arrested person stands up to the charge since he has not been questioned yet. He has been taken into custody and will be questioned on Sunday evening or Monday morning. Mørbanka Neither of the two men was seriously injured, but was sent for a check-up at the hospital in Lillehammer. Einar Lyngar knows that he is really battered after the punches and kicks. – I feel it more and more, both on my ribs, hips, shoulder and head, he says. The 78-year-old has been doing humanitarian work for several years, and is soon going to Kenya. He says he is used to a lot but never thought he would experience something like this in little Moelv on Hedmarken on a Sunday walk with the dog.
